Chris Paul's been waived by the Suns and gets $15.8 million on the way out the door. The Suns can stretch that amount into $3.16 million cap hits over the next 5 seasons.

He's got family in L.A. and travelled there A LOT the past couple years, even times where he had just 1 off-day. The Pelicans, OKC, Celtics, and Bulls should place a call though too.

He's desperate for a ring. There's no way he will play in Chicago

Wolfey seems to have a thing for old decrepit fossils. Why would anyone go out of their way for Chris Paul except as a Udonis Haslem type player coach or to fulfill some diversity and inclusion mandate about not discriminating against people on the basis of age. Anyone who signs Paul to play would also have to make sure the locker room is wheel chair accessible.

I appreciate your jokes vegan. I'm not saying Chris Paul is the puzzle piece that takes the Wizards to the playoffs. I do think the Suns-Nuggets series would have went at least 6 games if Paul were healthy. He still has game and they were up by 9 in Game 2 of the 3rd quarter. Paul has a valuable contract and Washington seems desperate to get off of Beal's 5 year $250 million deal. Not many teams are looking to take on $50 million a season. Ishbia might? Pat Riley might? Paul is a salary filler and a valuable salary filler because he'd be off of Washington's books at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Washington doesn't have a choice here. Beal has a full no-trade clause. He's the only player in the league that has one. He dictates shit.

I agree - but you needing to use the qualifier "if" just underscores my point - the other side of the "if" just isn't true anymore with Paul, and that's the point again. And it's too bad, one of my favorites. I wish he won a ring by now, he came close.

The Wizards could dump Paul immediately because his salary isn't fully guaranteed.

Yep, they could dump him immediately and he'd be free to sign with the Lakers. Shamet's contract ends after the 2023-2024 season as well so Washington would have a ton of financial flexibility moving forward. 2 crazy moves by the previous Wizards front office -- giving Beal $50 million a season AND the only no-trade clause in the league.

who gave Bradley Beal a no-trade clause? I think he might be the only player in the league currently with an explicit no-trade clause? Since KD waived his and got traded. Otherwise the only no-trade clauses attached to NBA contracts bedsides Beal's are the ones players on one-year deals or with matched offer sheets get automatically.

Quote:
The Washington Wizards are trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal that includes Chris Paul heading to Washington, CBS Sports' Bill Reiter confirmed Sunday. Beal, who signed a five-year, $251 million max extension contract last offseason, has a no-trade clause in his contract that somewhat limited his trade market. However, he ultimately proved willing to waive that no-trade clause to join a contender in the Suns, who also acquired Kevin Durant at last year's trade deadline and already had superstar Devin Booker in place.

Here are the reported details of the trade:

Suns receive

Bradley Beal

Wizards receive

Chris Paul
Landry Shamet
Multiple second-round picks
Multiple pick swaps
For the deal to work under the cap, the Wizards will need to guarantee an extra $9 million or so in Paul's salary, bringing his total guarantee up to around $25 million. For now, the Wizards are reportedly looking for ways to reroute Paul to a contender, with the Los Angeles Clippers emerging as a possible destination, according to Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes.

The Suns didn't have a guard problem. The Suns won't win anything without Ayton getting a heart transplant. The kid is one of the most talented big men in the league, but he's a pussy. You can't dethrone Jokic with a pussy.

Draymond with a player option for next season + new Suns owner Mat Ishbia Sparty alum and I think he even played (well, rode the bench) for Izzo too.

Ayton makes around 32 mil a season---probably about what Draymond's likely to get, the question is years with Green. The new CBA almost-a-hard-cap rules don't go into full effect for a couple more seasons. If Ishbia wants to go all-in the next 2 years and try to steal a title from Jokic and crew...probably still need a true big (to deal with Lakers at least) if you swapped Ayton in a sign a trade with Golden State for Draymond. Wiseman might've been good in this spot. He played well once he got out of Golden State.

Free agent centers: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/center/

Brooke Lopez on top of the list. Lopez already won a ring with the Bucks a couple seasons back; so maybe not eager to take a team-friendly deal to ring chase. Maybe they can wait til the trade deadline or buyout market. Grab a cheap placeholder guy from the bottom of the list until then, if they flipped Ayton for Draymond. Booker and KD alone are going to get you into the playoffs. Adding Beal probably pushes them to a top 4, home court first round or two. It's overcoming Lebron and AD and/or Jokic and Murray in the playoffs that the real challenge begins.

I'd much rather see Booker and KD in the Finals next year than horse-fucker Jokic and Kanaydian Murray again.

Although I don't see Steph agreeing to Draymond being let go and Draymond probably wants to ride the Steph train as long as he can.

It might not be as hard as we think to create another Jokic. It's just non-compelling European go to the ballet-ball.

The kid in Houston is baby Jokic.

Sign-and-trade transfers Bird rights? Although I dunno how valuable Vucevic's Bird rights would be to Phoenix; Ayton's Bird thing worth more to the Bulls than pushing 33 year old Vuc's for the Suns.

Speaking of Bill Simmons, he's claiming (he's got a guy...) on his Sunday night NBA pod that Zion won't be on the Pelicans end of the day Thursday .

Ayton can get you 20 and 10 in his sleep. As you noted previously though Nas, his confidence and motivation is a big question mark. People here will tell you Monty didn't know how to use him or simply wouldn't use him. I don't believe Monty used Mikal Bridges properly either. He had him standing in the corner most of the time.

Vucevic isn't a rim protector. He has no lateral quickness and gets cooked when needing to switch. Thanks, but no thanks.

Now, if you want Ayton, and the Suns can get Caruso and let's say Capela from the Hawks or Wendell Carter Jr. from the Magic, with Vucevic going to Atlanta or back to Orlando, that would be interesting.

Money owed to Beal in the next four years:

2023/2024 $46,741,590
2024/2025 $50,203,930
2025/2026 $53,666,270
2026/2027 $57,128,610

The guy hasn't even played more than 60 games in the previous four years.

Yep. The NFL owners just throw crumbs at the bottom 60% of the league. They get there way every time by doing that.

Draymond opting out give the Warriors they break they need to get away from him. Instead they will sign him to a deal that will be awful immediately.

He didn’t really need to play the last 4 seasons because of Covid and his team sucked.

I mean the NFL players get 48.8 percent of revenue and NBA players get 50 percent of revenue.

So the NBA players do slightly better but it's not that drastic like the tweet implies.

Yeah, they're not exactly splitting up the same pie and NFL players get 6 months off.
