He has his kid in New York for the medical coverage, has an agreement with Utah to go to a big city for good medical coverage and everyone assumes he's headed east to keep the family close to the help and today, it's announced that he's headed to the Lakers. Is this coincidence or was he manuevering to get to LA again?

If I was Utah I would be crying foul. There may not be a direct tampering but Utah should be due some compensation.

Supposedly he was going to a place where his kid could get treatment. There were 7 cities. LA may have been one of them.

I agree, it is fishy though, but Utah agreed to release him as a favor.

Utah already received unbelievable compensation. They unloaded an awful contract that will allow them to remain under the luxury tax when it’s time to extend Deron Williams. They made out like bandits here.

I'm gonna look at it from a Karma stand point - and give him a pass.
Using your sick kid to get out of Utah would be really low.

Not as low as backing out on a verbal agreement with the blind owner of your team to resign with the team in exchange for earlier free agency, and taking more money somwhere else, but almost.
