I love this move for the Hawks. This is going to make it more difficult for the Bulls to steal a 7th or 8th spot in the East.

It's on now

This is a huge step for the Hawks. Yes, I agree with Nas they really stole him away but regardless it's a big step for their team, despite low attendance and the state of their team that they're willing to go out and make a move like this

It's time for them to step up for real, this is what they've been missing, they've got it, now let's see what they can do. I'm excited

And btw, wonder how pissed LeBron is getting....

Well, at least for Bibby, the Hawks are only on the hook for one more season. They didn't have to take someone who might have 3-4 years left on a deal.

The players they gave up - man oh man. Shelden Williams - too slow for the NBA. Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue - run of the mill PGs. Lorenzen Wright - run of the mill 8th/9th man on a team. Second round pick next year? Worthless.

The only positive on this for the Kings is they probably get about 10M of cap space next year. But then again, what free agents will be running to Sacramento?

True...also seems almost certain now they'll move Artest, don't you think?

Yes, he's next to go. The only question for a team taking him is whether they will try and lock him past this year since he has a player option. You could also see Kenny Thomas on the move too. He's a serviceable big man for some team looking for a big.

Artest to Denver has been picking up steam again.

Most of these trades are about one team acquiring cap space. Udrih will get a chance to start for the rest of the season as well with Bibby gone, and they get back a big man who will get a chance to prove himself in Sacramento (S.Williams).

From Atlanta's perspective, one question. They finally acquire a proven point guard, but how much does he have left ?

He's got enough to get them through the next season and a half. You get a guy with fresh legs for the stretch drive (since he's only played 15 games this year) and hits almost 40% of his threes. He's only a half season removed from 17 PPG last year. Acie Law needs more time to develop as well.

Noone wants to touch his contract. I think Sacramento fucked up by now moving his contract along with Bibby.

I was thinking that this weekend too. I think its pretty much Andre Miller left out there and thats it, and rumor has it Philly isnt as desirous of trading him as was previously thought. They could gamble on Artest, but they need a PG.

The only other names won't get Lebron damp panties with the Grizz offering Kyle Lowry and Blazers looking to move Jarrett Jack. Maybe Sam Cassell can be coaxed out of LA for a stretch run.

As for Artest, the rumor is that the trade would be Artest for Kleinza, Najera and a pick.

Denver is also talking to Memphis about Lowry for Von Wafer and a pick.

Im not sure what the trade value for Cassell would even be right now. I know if hes bought out everyone is saying its a lock hes going to boston. I think anyone who can get Lowry will get a steal for sure. The price tag doesnt seem to be very high and he seems like he can definitely be an above average starting PG.

I've actually seen Tyronn Lue going to Boston coming up. Lue is capable as a 15 minute guy, will give some O, plays good D.

Also, with the way Rondo has played without KG I dont think Boston is as worried about getting another PG as they were earlier. Lue would be a great backup PG though. I think the Celtics #4-8 guys really showed what they could do without KG, and I think they showed enough that I would say they look like the team to beat right now, although its tough to predict how they will perform in the playoffs together.

Lowry will be a very good PG someday, he can get to the hole, pass and shoot pretty well. He was playing well for a good stretch of the season, but is getting wildly inconsistent playing time with Conley out for awhile, then conley back, Stoudemire was starting for awhile, now he's gone....

Well, that was a total disaster..... :(

They were totally out of synch, Bibby was running into people, turning it over left and right and then left with an injury

Not sure what the extent of the injury is, hopefully they can gel a bit more quickly, this West coast trip could be brutal

I know killing the Hawks at home in their first game after the break isnt a huge statement, but the Lakers look damn good. Kobe didnt seem to struggle all that much with the finger, though he wasnt tested too much. Right now the Lakers look like they are up there in the top tier teams in the league, even without Bynum. If him and Pau can co-exist well, they have to be the favorite in the West.

Im surprised that Detroit completely mailed that game in yesterday riding a 10 game win streak.

I thought KG felt "great"? Sure didnt seem like it yesterday

Bibby just bought out by Wizards. Will Bibby fit in Miami?

As expected, the Wizards and Mike Bibby have agreed to a buyout, freeing him to sign with a playoff-bound team.
Bibby was under contract through next season and sacrificed "significant" money to escape the moribund Wizards. He will have his choice of multiple playoff teams, including the Heat, Celtics, Blazers, and maybe even the Bulls. Feb. 28 - 2:44 pm et

Well, at any rate even if the Bulls did want him he wouldn't get rid of Keith Bogans, which I think NEEDS to happen.

He stinks and I hate him.

Post subject:  Re: Bibby

Bibby's only real remaining value is that he can hit a wide open 3. His shooting percentages have actually been very good the last few years; i'm pretty sure one of them was a career high. so yeah, there's some value there. he just can't play ANY defense at all, can't run an offense and has no speed left.

Author:  beni hanna [ Mon Feb 28, 2011 3:30 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Bibby

Bibby won't come to da bool. He was getting 29 min/game while averaging about 9 points and 4 rebounds in ATL. No way he takes a back seat in PT to come hear even as Rose's primary backup. He can goto Miami and possibly Minnesota and still get minutes. Miami might be the best place to play into the playoffs.

The Lakers and the Heat really need him. He would probably help the Heat more.

Post subject:  Re: Bibby

I'd be all for it. This is one of those "playoff guy" moves that could only help.

In a playoff series, you can't have Derrick playing 48 minutes a game. Why not bring in a guy who if you sit Derrick down, you won't lose much? Watson has a decent outside touch but he tries to go into business for himself too much.

And Bagels, I disagree when you say Bibby can't run a team. He's a perfectly acceptable veteran PG. He's way past the point of thinking he's gonna take over games. He'll get them into their offense and he'll protect the ball and hit the occasional open shot. You can never have enough guys like that in a playoff series.

Source: Mike Bibby headed to Heat

...Bibby will clear waivers on Wednesday. While Falk said Bibby has not made a decision yet about which team he will join, one source close to the situation said he's headed to Miami.
The source also said Miami is the front-runner for Troy Murphy. The Heat will have to cut as many players as they sign, and the source said Carlos Arroyo and Jamaal Magloire are the likeliest candidates.
