No way.

Chicago is much better-rounded than NY, hands down. Sure, Melo and A'mare will be increadibly difficult to contain, but after I still like our chances with 4-5 guys as opposed to 2-3 players on that team.

The Bulls have already dropped two games to them this season. Yes, it's regular season but the NBA is about matchups. The Bulls defensively just can't do anything about that run 'n gun D'Antoni philosophy. You just have to hope they're not making their shots.

Melo, Stoudamire, and Billups can't run that system though.

I don't think that is as true this year as in years past. Isn't Deron Williams a grown man point guard? Rose did pretty well against him.

Well hey, if longtime NBA guys like Terry Boers think the Bulls could have a chance against the Heat in/before the Eastern Conference Finals, then they should be able to handle the defenseless wonders of New York.

When the light's in his eyes and his guy blows on by that's aaaaaaaaaaaaaaamareeeee!!!!@
When he scores 35 but his guy's built a condo inside that's aaaaaaaaaaaaaamareeeeeee!!!@

IMU17, I admire your love for LOL Deng, but let's not get too carried away here. Melo would run circles around Deng in a match-up.

With that being said, however, I still don't see how NY beats the Bulls in a series.

From Bill Simmons:

It's just starting to dawn on me that Darko Milicic, Michael Beasley, Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph are on the same team.

How can that be true tho, Hova told us all Beasley would be better than Rose.

I can't completely fault him for making that proclamation. Beasley had the goods. Who could've predicted that Beasley's biggest obstacle would be himself?

I believe that his personality and his off the court stuff was the #1 question about Beasley. Turns out they were worth worrying about.

I give the Nets' owner Prokorov(?) credit for doing his part to run up the price to near-astronomical proportions. The only thing that didn't get blown out of proportion was the draft picks, as it's only a 2014 first round and two second rounders.

Still, it amazes me that Carmelo went for this much. Everyone knew that he was not only done with the Nuggets, but that he also wanted to sign with the Knicks. This whole situation was a bigtime game of chicken: would the Knicks come up with enough to trade, versus would Carmelo risk going to the poor-house if he wasn't able to sign his vaunted extension.

Carmelo better not come up with some "I have a burning desire to win" crap in the wake of this. If he truly wanted to do that, he would have simply played out the year and signed with the Knicks and attempted to put them over the top. Instead, he was so worried about losing the 3yr/65mil extension versus whatever he could get under the new CBA that he pulled this crap, and the Knicks had to bitch out and give up ~60% of their team so they could kiss their new star's ass and get him his paper.

Oh and don't forget about Corey Brewer! The Coach of the Year award is going to be renamed "The Michael D'Antoni Award for Coaching Excellence... In 12 Seconds Or Less!" when he turns around this kid's future!

The Knicks don't have many first round picks to trade.

Carmelo went for that much because there were other teams that were offering a lot to get him. Everyone knew that Carmelo would sign with whatever team he was with after the deadline. If the Knicks or Nets couldn't pull off a deal he would have signed with the Nuggets. He wasn't going to leave the money on the table. If the Knicks or Nets don't make this deal Carmelo wouldn't have been able to sign with them in the summer. The Knicks wouldn't have the chips to trade and the salary cap is likely going to be a lot less than it is right now. Having a desire to play for a team doesn't mean you have to sign for the veteran minimum when you're in your prime.

I don't follow the NBA that closely. Why has Beasley been such a pro bust. He looked great in college. Or is that the point? It was college.

But he is a poor shooter, bad on defense, and needs the ball too much in an offense.

Things the Bulls don't want. Things that could hurt the current Knicks roster.

You're better off being ignored. Carmelo is the best scorer in the game and a top 5 player and Deng is a nice 3rd or 4th option.

Maybe I am just being nitpicky, but I am having difficulty following your logic on Melo. How can he be a superstar and a poor shooter? He may be poor on defense, but the kid can put the ball in the hoop basically whenever he wants.

Regardless, I do agree with your clarification on Deng with the Bulls vs Melo with the Knicks.

Didn't Paxson say the Bulls needed scoring? What better scorer to have than the best one in the league? Melo plays defense now too. He has decided to play it the past 3 seasons.

I think Kevin Durant would have a lot to say about Melo being the "best scorer in the league".
