Ive admitted many times before MLB is a distant third in my favorite sports and I dont know a whole lot about it.

I'm sorry, buddy, is your name Mustang Rob, buddy? Was I talking to you, buddy?

By the way, buddy, it wasn't a sweep last year, buddy.

I dont give a shit, make dumbass comments like this and expect more than one person to respond, especially coming off a season with a NL world champ.

The National League is apparently permitting the woeful Cubs to participate in their playoffs. This, of course, is an embarrasing testament to the, ahem, "quality" of that league. Let us just say that we should dispense with all formality, and the American League Champion should be immediately crowned the World Series Champion.

NSJ, you gotta ease up, man. FavreFan is totally right, man, and I was totally wrong, man. Not to make excuses, dude, but I was spinning a Dead record, man, and I got a little choked up about Jerry, man. Man, he touched so many people, man.

LOL I definitely have strong opinions and definitely overstate things sometimes, Ive admitted as much, but to say I have anger problems because I call someone a dumbass who makes a dumbass comment is overstating things yourself I think. Maybe it comes across as anger issues, but really I dont let peoples opinions on this board reflect me and my personal life in the least bit, and Im assuming the vast majority of posters on here feel the same way.

Like Ungotz and others have said, many posters on here are cool, but many are just too ultra sensitive, like you said yourself... Its a message board, man.

Post-Season Update - Wednesday, September 26, 2007, 11:00 p.m., C.S.T.

We finally have our 4. On Tuesday, the glorious Yankees failed to hold a 5-0 lead against the dismal Devil Rays, and have apparently backed into the post-season, qualifying for same based solely upon the largesse of the Commissioner's Office in creating the Wild Card. Although this is certainly an embarrasment, the shame shall be erased.

Here are my up to the minute observations and predictions:

1. Boston has the second best record in the American League, tied with Cleveland at 94 wins, but with 64 losses to Cleveland's 63.

2. The Angels (at 92 and 67) trail both Boston (by 2.5) and Cleveland (by 3) for best A.L. record.

3. Unless I am mistaken, Cleveland would play the glorious Yankees if they have the A.L.'s best record or if Boston has the best record and Cleveland avoids a collapse vis-a-vis the Angels. I may, however, have this wrong, since I am used to the glorious Yankees winning the East.

4. The Angels have a ludicrous 54-27 record at home, and a 38-40 record away from Anaheim. Based upon home field, I give the edge to the finest baseball team in New England. Vlad Guerrero will dislocate his spine in Game 1 swinging at a pitch 10 feet over his head.

5. The glorious Yankees have owned the Indians since Bob Feller was teething. They will prevail.

6. In the "Patron Reposada-Blain's Farm & Fleet Bowl," the Yankees will have what it takes in a 7 Game classic. Chowderheads all across New England will fail to take solace in the fact that there is no shame in losing to the most legendary franchise in all of organized sports. The rats in Yawkey Pack will remain disinterested and unaffected.

7. National League victim to be announced.

Despite what NSJ might think, I know I dont know much about baseball, so I got some questions for ya.

Do you feel like ARod will be as great in the playoffs as he has in the regular season?

What is so good about Anaheim? I dont even know more than 4 players on the whole team? Why is everyone saying they are the best team in MLB?

Does Boston losing alot recently mean anything going into the playoffs?

Does Cleveland have a chance? if not, why not, they seem very impressive the few times I have watched them and I feel like they have the most consistent pitching in the AL.

Does the NL sacrificial lamb have a chance to win the WS, or was last year a fluke?

That would be cool as hell to see, I wont lie. When the Sox won we had to beat a nothing team like the Astros.

I would normally say that you are insane. However, I remember all too well your prediction from last October.

In answer to Favre Fan:

1. Arod - History is not in ARod's favor. This year, however, I have a different feeling. I believe that he will be the integral piece in winning me a very valuable Gift Certificate to Blain's Farm & Fleet.

2. Angels - I like the way the Angels play the game. However, I have no idea how they have amassed their current record. I have, however, excluded magic and mirrors as the cause. I also know that the glorious Yankees did not fare well against them his year.

3. Red Sox - I will let Mustang Rob answer this, but I think not.

4. Indians - Absolutely. They are a formidable foe. You are correct about their fine pitching. They play solid, fundamental baseball as well.

5. World Series - In all honesty, I do not see a single National League Club that would be favored over any of the four (4) American League Clubs. See, however, the above referenced prediction from last year.

The Red Sox slide coincides with ManRam being out of the line up, but I don't think it was the sole reason for it.
The heart of Sox bullpen went through a tired period period all at the same time. Timlin, Okajima & Papelbon all lost some velocity and control.
Gagne is washed up, and I'd be surprised to see him pitch in the playoffs with the game on the line.
They also got some shitty starts from Tavarez & Wakefield. Since neither guy will be in the post season rotation, you can ignore those stats. Both are better suited for the relief role anyway.

Here are the AL matchups:
Boston - winning record against LA & Cleveland. 8-10 vs. the Yanks
Yankees - unbeaten against the Indians, 2-5 vs. the Angels
Cleveland - loosing record against the other 3 playoff teams
Angels - loosing record vs. Boston

Coach I figured you would have the fire and the passion stoked up by that rally at the Thompson Center. After you faithfully attended the Bears superbowl rally last year, I thought you were a fixture at those events.

CAN YOU FEEL IT, FELLOW MEMBERS OF THE CHICAGO SPORTS FAN MESSAGE BOARD COMMUNITY?!? Thus far this week, each and every beat of my heart is an individual master opus, representing thousands of paeans mellifluously singing to the glory of the most legendary and successful franchise in the history of professional sport! Let it be said now, from every mountain top: Stone Roses is the most prolific composer in the history of man!

As the Playoffs are now upon us, let me share a few words with you.

There are many people in the world who really don't understand, or say they don't, what is the great issue between the Glorious New York Yankees and the rest of major league baseball. Let them come to the Bronx. There are some who say that Daisuke Matsuzaka is the wave of the future. Let them come to the Bronx. And there are some who say in upstate New York and elsewhere that we can work with Red Sox fans. Let them come to the Bronx. And there are even a few who say that it is true that Bud Selig is the head of an evil system, but he permits us to make economic progress. Lass' sie nach der Bronx kommen. Let them come to the Bronx.

All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of the Bronx, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words "Ich bin ein Bronxer!"

As we both embark upon this wonderful time of the year, let me sincerely state to you that I wish the Boston Red Sox the best of luck in their first round matchup against the Angels. My $50.00 Gift Certificate would be somewhat cheapened, perhaps feeling only like $48.65, if it did not come as a result of a victory over your valiant club.

To my colleagues who will be cheering on the Cubs in their quest to visit glorious Yankee Stadium, I wish you the best as well.

I believe that we can all agree, this is the best time of the year for all!

All I'm saying that perhaps there is an alternate path of reasoning that drives your desire for the great drama that a Red Sox v. Yankees championship series provides.
