Lost lots of respect for Dex. You don't sign with your former teams biggest rival. I'm rooting for a torn hamstring now.

Why? He doesn't owe them shit. He was one of the main reasonswhy they won a fucking WS.

Yes, he had an excellent season and post season and was a major contributor. While I wish he had signed with Toronto instead, I can see why he signed with the Cardinals. It is a very good organization with a tradition of winning. They have a lot of good young arms and if they can straighten out the offense (which he will help) they can contend for a wild card in 2017. He did his job for Chicago and they chose not to offer him the long term deal he sought....which was the right decision. So he had to get a job elsewhere and he chose a good landing spot. They stopped being his rival when the Cubs chose not to offer him a long term deal. Just business.

Exactly!

The Rays acquired OF Mallex Smith, INF Carlos Vargas, and LHP Ryan Yarbrough from the Mariners for LHP Drew Smyly

Love this trade for the M's. Trader Jerry Dipoto has been a busy man this off season and it was only a matter of time before he traded for a left handed starter. Smyly is a great bounce back candidate and Safeco is a nice place to pitch. Smith won't hit enough to be an everyday guy, Vargas is 17 yrs old and Yarbrough is an org guy. Surprised the Rays couldn't do better than that for. 27 yr old lefty with 2 yrs of control.

Boston signs a 1 year deal with Jackie Bradley, 3.8 million. Surprised they didn't lick him up to a six or 7 year deal. If he plays like last year, he's going to want a 10 year 300 million after the season.

Looks like Bats is going back to Toronto. I really thought the Twins were gonna swoop in there for a minute.

No doubt. Teams seem to just be going with first and second year players with small potential and small investments.

I mean Jose Bautista is 36 coming off a year where his numbers slipped across the board and he's still getting $40 million.

The Jays and Bautista finally agreed to a deal. 1 yr guaranteed with 2 options. Good. They deserve each other. Trumbo is the only free agent left with compensation attached.

Mark Trumbo and the Orioles agreed to a 3 yr/$37.5M deal.

Trumbo went to the George Costanza school of negotiating. Oh well he probably still got more than he deserves. Trumbomb was the last of the players with compensation so that means the draft order is set. Good lord that was a bad free agent class.

Rays acquired RHP Jose De Leon from the Dodgers in exchange for 2B Logan Forsythe.

Well the Dodgers finally got their second baseman and they finally traded DeLeon. Forsythe is a pretty good player and should fit in well in that lineup. I like this deal for the Dodgers. You gotta be weary of a team that hell bent on trading a pitcher. I wonder if this means Odorizzi is on his way out of Tampa next.

Hammel to KC. This is the guy I thought would have replaced Quintana had the Sox dealt him.

Eh, it is the AL Central. If he gets lucky and doesn't see Cleveland much, he will be just fine.

Tigers and Indians are pretty similar offensively and the Twins (believe it or not) finished right in the middle of the league in runs scored. Even the White Sox really haven't do much to neuter their offense. The only really low-scoring AL central team is the Royals, and he wont be facing the Royals too much.

Cabrera, Kinsler, and the Law Firm of Martinez and Martinez are a combined...200-ish years old.

I'm not sure how much is in the tank, but am confident the tank is rapidly depleting.

Oriole Hammel was pretty much Cub Hammel

Of course the ERA goes up on the league with an extra hitter.

Brandon Phillips to Atlanta.

Phillips finally accepted a trade out of Cincy. I could imagine a George Costanza/Play Now situation. The Reds front office took away Phillips parking space, they wouldn't give him a jersey and they walled off his locker.

Hello Marjorie, Brandon Phillips here, listen could you give Mr Jocketty a message for me. If he needs me tell him I'M ON THE FIELD!!!!!!!
