Anyone know of a stat that tracks that sort of thing?

I know they always say Hunter Pence hits great pitching well and I was reminded of that with him homering off Syndergaard yesterday.

All I can find is this article from last October

Thats good stuff.

Seems like Fangraphs and BR should have this all worked out. Maybe they do.

Pretty sure Hawk can rattle off the ten best of all-time.

What does that even mean? There's a difference between elite pitchers and elite pitches. Any pitcher in the big leagues can throw an elite pitch at least occasionally and chances are even the best hitter won't do anything with it.

Im looking at pitchers. Guys who who hit top tier pitchers well.

Im guessing a lot of the guys who perform well in the playoffs are guys who are less likely to be shut down by great pitching.

I dont know though.

That's a bit of a stupid way to phrase the question in the article. Although it helps, velocity doesn't always bring results. That list reads more of a list who you want hitting in the late innings. As those are the guys coming in and just throwing heat.

Feels like the RPB is looking for batter results against pitches with elite ERA/WAR/BAA rates.

Well, you're certainly not facing many run of the mill 4 and 5 guys in the postseason. It stands to reason the teams generally won't hit as well vs. top pitchers.

I would think at this point you're enough of a fan that you could eyeball them & figure that out. Raw numbers in that limited sample size I would think to be almost completely unreliable.

I know it about the Cubs and some of their main rivals but Im looking at the whole league. I see your point though.

Heyward is hitting the bums as equally poorly as the kings

I tell you what, one of the best- if not the best- pitchers I ever played with was Jim Lonborg. In 1967... he had the greatest World Series performance by any pitcher ever... up until that time. Now, there have been some good ones since. But Ron Fairly, he just kilt Lonnie. Fairly was a good player, a journeyman, but when he faced Jim Lonborg he became a... great player.
