If Baez is at 2B and Schwarber is in LF, where does Zobrist play / who is the leadoff hitter those days?

Schwarber probably leads off if Zobrist isn't in the lineup. Zobrist is going to play most of the time but he will be at a different position everyday like Gil McDougald in 1959. If Baez isn't cutting it with the bat, Zobrist will play mostly at second and Baez will be the guy moving around.

I still foresee Zobrist getting the majority of his playing time at 2B while Baez spells the whole infield thus being an almost everyday player.

I'm also of the belief that Schwarber logs some time at 1B as well. I know Rizzo is still young, but you've got to get him some rest here and there.

Lost lots of respect for Dex. You don't sign with your former teams biggest rival. I'm rooting for a torn hamstring now.

Good for Dex getting his payday. He deserves it.

Wasn't the narrative that he took less money last year to come back to the Cubs? Now some fans want to rip him for looking to finally get paid after the Cubs didn't make him an offer?

I know you only follow amateur baseball, but Dexter Fowler is a good MLB player. He will help the Cardinals a lot. #worthit

He's only 30, so even the length won't be bad. He has been surprisingly consistent his entire career. So they can basically rely on his stats with average defense. In today's MLB, that doesn't seem like such a bad deal. Cubs would rather have that deal than Heyward's right now, I would imagine.

Looks like they're bringing Justin Turner back at 4yrs/$64M. So much for them tightening their belts.

That's 2 more comp picks off the board. Only 3 left.

I don't get the hate for Dexter finally getting paid.

I wasn't real familiar with him when they gave up the great Luis Valbuena (one of Jimmy's guys) to get him. He was a hell of a player and he is really going to be missed next year.

Yeah, he played his balls off for two really good Cub teams. How could anyone begrudge him his payday when the Cubs couldn't bring him back? And it's not like he was some lifelong Cub that will be identified with the organization.

Frank Thomas is a White Sox through and through. I wasn't upset with Frank when he left the Sox. I gave him his ovation the first time he came up in an A's uniform. But that was enough. After that first time he was just another guy I wanted to beat. I sure wasn't going to cheer his homers against the Sox even though some Sox fans did.

I felt this way about Frank and Jordan. I wanted both to have great games but I wanted Chicago to win.

I cheered Hurt's first homer. I laughed at the second one. I think Jon Garland gave up both of them.

Yes, he had an excellent season and post season and was a major contributor. While I wish he had signed with Toronto instead, I can see why he signed with the Cardinals. It is a very good organization with a tradition of winning. They have a lot of good young arms and if they can straighten out the offense (which he will help) they can contend for a wild card in 2017. He did his job for Chicago and they chose not to offer him the long term deal he sought....which was the right decision. So he had to get a job elsewhere and he chose a good landing spot. They stopped being his rival when the Cubs chose not to offer him a long term deal. Just business.
