I've always thought this was a nice looking one, Hawaiian. Grey so the sweat stains and dirt won't show up as quickly. I love the o and x within the S symbol. 1917 so it is vintage stuff that will be appreciated by the sophisticated person who sees you wearing it

That hat is beautiful. It feels like when you put one of those on you are going back in time.

I would love to buy that and wear it. Even though I'm a Cubs fan.

I will wear this on the 4th of July.

Now that's a beauty....

I lost this hat during my move. Does anyone know who sells this other than the HOF?

The Hall of Fame has one but it's not in my size. None of the major hat stores are carrying it.

I loved this one. But it was getting old as the white shine was wearing down. Probably needed to buy a replacement anyway.

So many good caps and uniforms. 70s Oakland A's were great.

Ugh. When will those 59 Fifty hats go away? If you're over the age of 20, they look ridiculous. However, I am a big fan of the 47 Cleanup.

You can curve the bill of the hat yourself rather easily.

Doesn't matter because the body of the hat is way too high. What's going on up there? I don't want an attic in my hat.

Isn't the 5950 the on-field cap?

After reading your post I did a Google search, and you seem to be correct. In the real world I think they look ridiculous. They also seem to be crowding out all of the other varieties of hats, although I can understand why that's taking place now.

I had an old wool 5950 that fit perfectly. I just had to tear the buckram out and soak it in hot water. Dried to the shape of my head. It was great. I think I lost it at an airport a few years ago and now they're all made of polyester.

If you put them on your head right out of the store without curving the brim, you'll look like an idiot. I realize this will make Jason Goff very mad at me.

I remember the halo going across the a, not over it as shown. Maybe it's mandela effect.

I think you're thinking of the Big A hats they wore around the same time, the ones that the current hat is a modernization of. That halo went around the A.

I mixed up the A from the a. I could have sworn the halo went across the body of the a too.

According to Dressed to the Nines, the Angels only wore that lowercase 'a' in 1971, with the Red Sox-style CA with the halo sewn onto the crown of the cap before that and the Big A after. Crazy! I thought it was around much longer than that.

One of those one-year wonder hats, like when the Blue Jays wore that beefy blue jay for a year before they switched to wearing grey and black.

This is not one of the best baseball caps in history:

Ken Berry was my guy and he went to the Angels. That's how I remember the a. Though wrongly.

I've heard a good method for shaping a new hat is to put it through a cycle in the dishwasher

A few years ago I wore one of those flat hats biking and got pulled over by a cop saying i wasn't using the bike lane.

i think if i wasn't wearing that hat he would not have pulled me over. He probably though I was a punk or druggie wearing it. just saying.

not my style. I tried to curve it but it never curves right.

I dunno, I have a flat one and the bill seems to be made with something different than the regular ones. It's more flimsy and doesn't curve right.

The hats the Sox were wearing yesterday were pretty sweet.

this is correct. it does not curve correctly. it's like a half assed curve. makes it look even more ridiculous.

if you go on youtube there are videos of curving it and putting it in a washing machine a certain way but fuck all that. I have to do more work on a hat I bought for like $30??? If I buy a hat it should be ready for wearing off the rack. Im suppose to be some culligan man to get it right???

I buy the 5950 because they come in real hat sizes and not the bullshit one size fits nobody right mode. But I did notice that the last one I bought this winter (for one of the now-defunct Rookie league teams) was somehow way too big, it must have been mismarked

You do have to use them a lot to get them into shape. My favorite is actually a Blackhawks cap (Indian Head on red) which has shrunk just a little and has a better bill.
