You actually do have Rick on ignore don't you?

This thread:
Sox fans upset at thought: 2005 White Sox not best ever.

Being a Sox fan seems like a strange trip.
There are at least two teams, and possibly more, that may be better than the 2005 White Sox. I think the White Sox have a good case for beating those teams too.

The issue is with unreasonable people that don't think the Sox are as good because "REGULAR SEASON WINS!".

Sox are one of 5 teams, IIRC, to go wire to wire.

I didn't see any posts where Rick was getting upset.

Either way, you at least gotta admit this is a bad look for your "Sox fans care about the Cubs more than vice versa" theory

Your self-awareness is about on par with Frank's lately.

This post makes no sense. I didn't even say anything about myself in the post you quoted.

Not as crazy as I first thought.

Cone 20-7, 3.55ERA, 207.2IP, 209K, 59BB, 1.180WHIP
Garland 18-10, 3.50ERA, 221IP, 115K, 47BB, 1.172WHIP

Dude, of course the Sox could beat them. Do you really believe that the better team wins every time in baseball?

Actually, This Thread was about the Cleveland Indians, but 8 posts in a Cubs fan went off about White Sox fans. Now five pages later, Cubs fans still can't stop talking about the 2005 White Sox.

But I lack self awareness, right leash?

someone said the indians this year reminded them of the Royals when they won the WC. They lost a game 7 but came back to win it all the following year.

They won again.

I see on espn.com they are like the 5th story down in the baseball section. I guess 20 in a row is not a big deal for espn unless its the redsox or yankees.

I love the ESPN headline that winning all these games in a row for the Indians is more impressive than winning a World Series.

I am sure every player on the Indians would trade in a 20 game winning streak for a WS championship.

The 98 Yanks are considered one of the greatest teams ever. You people are either homers or extremely insecure (Rick).

It's not crazy to think the 2005 Sox would beat the 98 Yankees. I know the Sox have sucked for a long time now so it may be easy to forget how dominant they were. You and RPB are clearly understating how good they were.

So you believe the 2005 White Sox are on par with what many believe to be the greatest baseball team of all time?

I think they are a rung or two below. The only team Id put with the 98 Yankees is the Big Red Machine.

The last thing I want is for a thread about the 19-consecutive-wins Indians to turn into another fucking referendum on the White Sox, but there are some interesting parallels between the '05 Sox and '98 Yankees in terms of the wholes being much much bigger than the sums of their respective parts. It would be a good best of seven for sure.

Agreed. Would be a good Series.

Yankees were better, imo but as anyone who follows baseball knows that doesn't always work out in a shirt series.

Although I think Peeps was a little generous on the Garland = Cone one.
CH has convinced everyone the 2005 White Sox could beat the 98 Yankees!

We did good work here.

No one argued otherwise because most people posting in this thread understand anything can happen in a short series.

It honestly is weird how much it bothers you that the 05 Sox weren't the best ever.

They were your best ever. Should be enough.

Now, where is the talk about the Sox being the best ever? The argument is that they are on the level of other historically dominant teams. Would be a good series!

Most World Series teams meeting would be a good series. They're all champions.

It's hilarious that you think regular season has ZERO bearing on the discussion of all time great teams.

And do you see the 2005 White Sox listed among all time great teams from analysts and such? Are the people making those lists anti Sox too ?

Anyways, 20 in a row for the tribe!

I never said 0 bearing. When it is the only argument against a team it's stupid though.

You've already acknowledged that the 2005 White Sox would give any team in baseball history a really good series. I don't really see the need to continue to argue that the White Sox had a good chance of beating any team in baseball history.

That makes no sense, but whatever.

2005 White Sox were brought up on Jim Rome yesterday. Konerko saying the September collapse was "the best thing that could have happened" to the team because it refocused them.

Who would argue that a team that won the WS wouldn't give any other team a good series? I thought this was a bit, but you're apparently serious.
