He's a 6'8" RHP for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He dominated every level of the minors like few have. His hits to innings pitched are incredible.

593 IP
2.02 ERA
354 hits
278 BB
785 K's
1.065 WHIP

He's now on his 3rd call up with the Pirates and it's still not going well. He's a long levered guy who can't repeat and doesn't have good enough command of his secondaries. The last time the Pirates sent him down they had him work exclusively from the stretch to simplify his delivery and make it more repeatable. How many big league starters do you see working exclusively from the stretch. He dominated the minors by throwing his fastball by hitters but you can't do that in the bigs where everyone can hit a fastball. That's why they're there. He's in the bullpen for the rest of this season and the Pirates say he's still a starter and at 24 he has time to figure something out but as it stands right now he looks like he's going to be a reliever. Here are his big league numbers.

81.2 IP
6.94 ERA
101 hits
52 BB
78 K's
1.873 WHIP

Coop would have fixed him but they wouldn't trade Meadows, who also shit the bed in 2017.

You think he can be fixed? Maybe he is what he is.

Cubs should deal for him. The Wizard of Boz will fix him up.

Still hasn't been able to get it figured out at the big league level. This guy is my fear for Alec Hansen.

I was a couple years too early on him.

I remember watching him start with the pirates a few years ago and you could see that once things started going wrong for him out there that adversity would snowball into some kind of a big mess. I remember coming away thinking that the problem was in his head and he probably would need a change of scenery to have a chance. Now after a decent start in Tampa last year it sure looks like he's got that chance.
