Unless the Cubs know for sure that Harper has them and only them on his free agent destination list, Theo has to pull the trigger on that Addison Russell-Manny Machado deal if the Orioles come back to the table this summer.

I did not realize until Almora was on M&P the other day that he and Machado are so close that they might as well be real cousins. They have known each other since childhood.

If you do that trade, you basically have to have Machado's extension ready to sign then.
