Per Bovada, Cubs are the favorite to sign Bryce Harper.

Cubs = even money
Dodgers +500
Phillies +550
Yankees +600
Nationals +700

The strange thing would be if signing Harper for a ton would be the thing preventing the Cubs from signing Bryant long term for a ton.

"we" :roll:

The team that offers him the most zeros and commas in his contract will have the advantage. That team may or may not be the Cubs.

Baseball consumes about 2/3 of your year. It means something to be around people you like and in an environment you like. He is a major star and has all kinds of sponsor deals. Even if the Yankees and Dodgers put stupid money out there I think he is going to get a ton of money to go where he wants to. I think Machado will take every penny he can get but Harper seems like a where there are factors other than money that he will consider important in his next ball club.

Come on Frank. Don't be that douchebag who has a problem with fans saying we. Leave that to the insufferable like Bernstein

I'm sure potential suitors are thrilled to hear the guy they may invest $400 million into doesn't think its important to be a hustle guy

Hard to believe Harper is nearly a year younger than Bryant. Would probably be a weird dynamic to have your little league teammate join your team and be making way more than you (Bryant will likely eventually get his payday, but not with the Cubs if they sign Harper).

IMO, it is an insufferable douchebag who says "we" when referring to the team they root for.

has a $20M+ per year $200M+ contract ever ended as a positive for the team signing the high priced player? It seems like all teams not the NYY get saddled with poor production at the end of these deals... and that they also never win anything.

Ye gods ... nobody that says that thinks they're part of the club ... it's a long-accepted convention of the language to phrase it that way ... bemoaning it is something people do when they actually have nothing to really say ... like bitching about 'Cubbies' or completely irrelevant crap like that.

I'm gonna have to agree ... apparently Machado has a lengthy history of being a dickwagon which, me being out-of-town-stupid, had no clue about.

I didn't realize it either...was shocked that Yelich went all in with the "dirty play by a dirty player" and said Machado had a long history of crap like that (and they weren't even in the same league until recently, though they could've played each other in interleague games).

at least he will be another easy person to hate if he signs with the Cubs.

He will be 300 pounds by the end of the contract no matter where he signs. He definitely has that look of a fat man just looking to bust out

He'll turn down $405M to sign a $400M deal with the Cubs.

That makes me one. I say the team name most of the time but say we subconsciously because it is my team.

The Angels hired Brad Ausmus. Weird hire. Not sure he’s much of an upgrade from Scioscia.

Anti-semites will not approve.

He took over an aging team in Detroit and took the fall for decline in talent. Has a chance to do something with the Agels.
