I dont understand how an NLCS, let alone game 7, can be on an obscure cable channel like FS1?

What if you have a basic cable channel that doesn't include FS1?

I mean, fuck, most people have never even heard of FS1!

So if you don't get FS1, how the hell can you watch game 7?

So the question is, how are you watching the NLCS?

Are you watching on FS1 straight up? Going to a friend's house or a bar that has FS1?

Do you have dish? or regular-ass cable?

FS1 is on pretty much every cable package that includes 'sports.'

It's a sad state of affairs. LCS and World Series games should be on over-the-air television.

I agree. Makes no sense to me. I can see if it's on a channel like TBS, since thats on the most basic cable packages. But FS1 is part of a sports package that is a level or 2 beyond the basic cable. Weird.

Murph brought this up today.

It’s greedy mlb signing multiple tv deals. Hurts the product in the long run because lot of ppl don’t have FS1. Especially those who cut the cord.

Penny wise pound foolish.

Even if everyone has it, you look low rent placing your most important product on the station

They are trying to push FS1 as being the equivalent of ESPN1. There will be a whole current generation of people, younger than us, that don't see a difference as they always grew up with both.

There is no doubt FS1 gains credibility from the association: like Pete Davidson dating Ariana Grande.

I don't see any way that FS1 ever catches ESPN in terms of brand recognition or equity. FS1 diminishes postseason baseball way more than postseason baseball can elevate FS1.

Does having the ALCS on TBS/TNT- a cable network- diminish anything?

I get that you see it that way...but you're a bit of a media nerd. The vast majority don't see it that way...that type of thinking never even enters their mind. Both are sports stations. Both are on their digital cable channel list when they hit guide. If you turn both on in the late morning, you'll see a black guy and a white guy arguing.

A little bit, yeah, because I'm still used to that being on Fox. At least ESPN, TBS, TNT, and USA are big cable channels that have been around forever (in cable time) and seem to be considered the top tier of cable. In the case of the NBA on TNT, it's more than fine, because Turner has treated the NBA as a prize property for years now. But I do believe there's a difference in perception, if not necessarily reception, between those channels and FS1 or NBCSN or the CBS Sports Network if that one even still exists anymore. The NHL was the laughingstock of sports when they went from ESPN to the Outdoor Life Network. I'll concede that the media landscape has changed since 2005, but I do think it still matters to have at least the league championships and World Series on free television, especially if more people are cord-cutting.

People living in or near cities that don't want or can't afford cable still watch TV with rabbit ears. MLB could give a shit about those not getting FSI. That's just stoopid! A lot of population there for FUTURE fans.

What I wonder is why on every cable lineup I've seen FSI is way down on the list...if it was right under ESPN it wouldn't be so obscure.
