My 2019 favorite bad baseball player. I wish him luck with the gatorade.

It's a minor league deal. He will compete for the everyday 2B job. He turned down MLB offers from a few teams, including the Sox, to be a backup IF. Good for him for banking on himself. I wish him luck.

it sounds like a mega trade between the Dodgers and Red Sox involving Mookie Betts has been agreed to in principal and the Dodgers are negotiating a long term contract with betts

Curtis Granderson retires. Really solid career.

Can't keep holding on to all their prospects; have to flip them for impact players.

Dont think the Twins really got better and I'm actually fine having Mazara over Pederson.

Maeda and Donaldson is getting better.

I'm comfortable with them relying on an aging starter who doesn't take many starts, throw many innings and gave up a lot of runs in a pitchers park

He's their 5th starter, added depth to the rotation. I'd say they get 2 good years from Donaldson, two bad years.

I really cannot believe an MVP caliber player in the heat of his prime went for Alex Verdugo and a high-ceiling relief prospect. Just such a load of shit.

Draft better.

it's not even a full 24 hours after the trade and I'm tired of the whining about how bad this is for baseball. The Red Sox will be just fine. The Cubs will be just fine.

I'm assuming America is pissed that the Sox didn't pull the trade off. That's a very weak haul for Betts.

I am more annoyed that nobody was willing to beat that shitty lowball offer.

Three years ago Chris Sale fetched the consensus best overall prospect in baseball and the best right-handed pitching prospect in baseball (plus two others). Now a twenty-seven year old MVP cant even get the Dodgers to part with a top one hundred level prospect that actually belong to them. They gave up a starting caliber outfielder and a thirty-two year old number four starter.

How does any of this make any sense anymore?

Chris Sale trade did not include all the money taken on with David Price. That is a huge part of this deal. If it were just Betts it would have gotten more in return

I had initially thought it was more when news of the trade was first breaking. The White Sox could've beaten this offer by giving up either one of Madrigal or Vaughn, not even both. I bet they could've swung it for a package as paltry as Cease and Stiever, maybe having to toss in one of the high school righties they took last year to push that deal over the top.

But the Dodgers got him basically for free. They gave up nothing they give a shit about.

Betts also wants a $400 million deal that keeps him in MLB to age 40.

Red Sox are paying half of David Price's money. I'd rather have David Price than Kenta Maeda, who is basically a reliever who masquerades as a starter for a few months every year.
