I thought it was because suburbanites were complaining about being excluded, but ornery suburbanites and corporations bilking the state out of money are equally plausible Arizona scenarios.

The Phoenix Coyotes definitely became the Arizona Coyotes in order to get tax money out of Glendale, but I still always slip up and call them Phoenix anyway. That's why this stuff is dumb.

I think Old Comiskey is the only stadium I've ever been to that is completely GONE.

I think I've been to 4:

Comiskey
County Stadium (for baseball and football!)
Fulton County
Turner Field (not "gone" - but it's a small time college football stadium now. I don't think the Braves will be going back)

I liked county. Saw a brewers rangers game there in 94. Walked up with three buddies and got tickets right behind third base on a late May/early June Day Gabe burnedvthe crap out of my legs but it was fun.. probably shoulda stayed and studied for that calculus exam but.. eh. It was a lost cause.

The story goes that John Mcgraw kicked the Yankees out of the Polo Grounds because they were outdrawing the Giants. I had no idea they built the stadium right across the river. That must have really pissed off the old warhorse.

Great photo.

I have some great memories from the old Metropolitan stadium in Bloomington, MN. Going to Vikings games and to Twins games including 'bat day'.

Lou Brock hit a homer to center in 1962 when he was with the Cubs and playing the Mets at the Polo Grounds. The wall in center was 483 feet from home plate.

Astrodome - As a kid this was the anti-wrigley field and I loved it.

Image

Atlanta Fulton County Stadium - Can still hear the tomahawk chop chant ringing through the stadium. Loved watching Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz in the post season.

Image

Candlestick Park - Cubs Vs Giants in 89 one of my favorite series. Will Clark was one of many Cub killers.

Image

Tiger Stadium - Cecil Fielder would hit bombs in that park. Enjoyed watching Sox games vs the Tigers back when I rooted for the Sox.

Image

Honorable mention - Whatever the old Twins stadium was called. The trash bags as the outfield wall was priceless!

The amount of foul territory is crazy...would hate to be a batter there.

Was fun to watch the wind blow a foul ball in the stands back onto the field of play. The extreme amount of wind made pop-ups highly difficult.

The overhang in right of Tiger's Stadium was so awesome. I'm surprised that the new parks haven't tried to incorporate it into their park.

It looks cool, but I’d think it’d suck watching games from left field. A lot of the old parks seemed to be designed to maximize capacity while giving those people a tiny window to actually see what’s happening on the field.

It’s Wrigley’s biggest flaw aside from the pig-sized rats. The majority of the 200 section puts you either under a low roof, behind a pole or behind a Pole.

Candlestick was a crazy stadium. It played like a complete different park after 5pm or so.
