Anyone watching mlb network Padres and angels tonight?

They in the 11th but every extra inn frame runner started at 2nd.

Looked and felt Bush league.

Funny none of those runners scored and the game is still taking forever to end.

we do this in tournaments for kid baseball and even then it feels like a low rent solution

I think it favors the away team at the youth level. That run scores 95% of the time and despite the fact that you will have a runner on 2nd to start the extras, it just feels like you're chasing already

I can understand it at the kid level. And I can also understand that given the circumstances that season, MLB did not want 16 inning games.

What they should do is play the 10th and the 11th inning straight, and then start with a runner on second if the game gets to 12 Innings.

This is an objectively bad way to end a close baseball game. Creating an artificial "situation" where none exists in an effort to "move things along" seems like a bad idea much like penalty shots deciding a hockey or soccer game. You invest yourself in a good, close game only to have some fake bullshit decide the winner.

I am looking forward to it this season. Long extra inning games need to be avoided.

I think the better solution if this is the problem is to just end in a tie.

People don't like ties.

I have no problem with them. I think they should be used in hockey too.

I don't like the thing at all. It takes away from a manager having to manage his line-up and pitching to deal with a situation like this. And its effect takes place also on what effect a game that goes into many extra innings on the games that follow that one, namely on the pitching staff

Shootouts are fine if they're used sparingly. I didn't like when seemingly one in every four games went to a shootout, but every now and then it's a cool way to end a game. Hell of a lot better than teleporting a runner to second base and flying in the face of everything in the game being quantified and accounted for.

It's fine. 9 innings is too many anyway

Haven't fans suffered enough after 9 innings? Make it so the only people that can pitch were the 9 guys you ended the 9th. If the pitcher runs out of gas, too bad. All those chump position players that line up to throw the 9th in a blowout can get their wish.

If there would be one season where I didn't mind extra innings, it would be this one. Over the course of 162 on the other hand, nobody needs more baseball. I'd be all for doing this in a normal year.

Saw it a couple years again in Florida in the minors. Just seems so damn wrong.

I'd be ok with it starting the 13th during the regular seasom. I sat in person through the 2-1 17 inning Cubs at Marlins game the second game of the season a couple of years ago, the one good Eddie Butler game. If it hadn't been the second game of the season with a fresh 5th starter that wasn't needed for another week, that would have been a train wreck.

But in travel tournaments, the innings restrictions on pitchers can be severe.

With this rule, Who's on 2nd now and What's on first.
