It will be interesting what, if anything the Sox do in the off season. And that is going to be whether they go after a legit left handed starter. They have shown the depth that they have in their young arms with Foster, Burdi, Cease, Dunning et al. And they also have two great young prospects in Vaughn and Madrigal to structure a big deal for a top notch starting pitcher.

Like when Boars, does this, there is likely no mystery team. They are just trying to get the Padres to up their offer.

Clevinger is a big move.

The way the Indians have managed their starting pitching inventory is a clinic. They consistently have somebody in their fourth or fifth year of service time who would be a solid #2 for most clubs who they can deal as excess and command a premium return.

Well the problem with Cleveland is they are constantly building for a moment that never comes. I guess it'd all be different had they put away game seven...a man can dream.

Stone brought this up in an interview a while back when asked "what would you ask Zach Plesac". His response was something to the effect of..."What is it that the Indians system teaches a young pitcher...whatever it is, it's working better than any other organization."

Cleveland and St. Louis both have anemic outfields. Cleveland seems to view it as a value imbalance, focus on the infielders and the starting pitching and go the journeyman route in the outfield and hope for a career year from someone. St. Louis is just stubborn about scrappy guys like Harrison Bader who should all be fourth outfielders.

they're out to win it this year. that's good. with a short season it can be done. Dodgers are their big challenge but anything can happen in the playoffs like DC proved last year.

As long as they do it the "right" way abiding by the unwritten rules and their manager can restrain Tatis so no more feelings are hurt this year.
