After the Angels take the lead in the top of the 8th, Steve Cishek promptly gives the lead back to Seattle... If Seattle can hold on, the fantastic four team scenario is still in play.

It looks like the most chaos would be either yankees or red sox take 1st spot, and the other 3 tie for second. That adds a day of wild card games and makes a team choose between trying to win 2 at home, or 1 on the road, just to reach the actual wild card game

I think the 3 way tie for 2nd spot is just a great "would you rather".

2 potential home games, with your fans, and ticket sales, concessions, parking, etc.
OR
only need 1 win, but it's on the road, and you'll irritate all your fans that wanted to buy tickets, concessions, etc.

I don't know the numbers, but I would guess the analytics people say it's easier to win 1 road game than 2 home?

Absolutely easier for most teams. But Seattle might have wanted the two home games just because of the cross country travel.

Yankees pull it out after being two hit through 8 by a Rays team who just wanted to make them suffer. Rizzo with a key hit.

So if Boston loses and Toronto wins they are will have a 1 game playoff for the 2nd wild card spot?
