Feels like it's the Rays year. If they don't close the deal this year, move the franchise to Charlotte or Nashville. Sorry, Tampa, you can't have all that pitching come through year after year and never win anything.

I was watching the moneyline most of the game, and even with the Cards up 1-0 , the Dodgers were still bouncing around from -135 to -155.

AGREED.

It was stated in the other thread. Tied 1-1 in bottom of the 9th and you bring in a guy with a shit ERA in his last 30 games. Buh-bye Cardinals.

Tuesday's game was pretty good. I enjoyed the first 4 innings or so of last night's, but then it turned into a snooze fest. I didn't even stay up for the final.

Agree on the length of game. It reminded me that I probably won't get home until early Monday morning after ALDS Game 3.

Not a fan of 162 games coming down to just a single game in this format (tiebreakers/#163 notwithstanding).

I dont see how a 1-1 game into the 9th can be seen as a snooze fest. I enjoyed it. Even if the Cardinals win it was a good game to watch. But thankfully they didn't

The amount of depth the Rays have is just insane. Their minor league teams routinely win their leagues. Their AAA team at Durham would have given the Orioles or Diamondbacks a run for their money in a 7-game series.

There were a combined 37 runners LOB. 310 combined pitches thrown between 9 pitchers used in the game.

I like a pitchers duel as much as anybody, but a 1-1 game thru eight and a half innings should be coming in well under 2.5 hours and have used 4-5 pitchers at most.

That's just how the playoffs work. I think tv tacks an extra 30 seconds between innings and pitching changes, and the pitching changes are incessant. I also think the pitchers work slower because of the gravity of the moment.

I agree, it still sucks though.

The ALDS might be the antithesis of that because Dusty and LaRussa are going to let their starting horses run.

I think the play for this afternoon is the u4 for the first 5 innings. The Sox are relatively inexperienced in playoff baseball and I think they start off tight. Lynn is great on long rest. I think both starters pitch through 5 and its no more than 1-1.

Yeah, I've come around to the idea of letting additional teams into the playoffs, but to reward the best teams over 162, I'd give either more byes or maybe have a best-of-five series where one team starts with a one game advantage.

The Dodgers are so loaded, it's tough to feel sorry for them. Ron Darling mentioned last night that it was inconceivable at the start of the year that Max Scherzer would be starting their most important game. (When their projected rotation was Kershaw, Bauer, Buehler, Urias, Gonsolin.) Not to mention getting Trea Turner as well.

Speaking of Ron Darling, he mentioned that Joe West had been around for so long, he had been been umping in the majors for years before Darling even made it to the big leagues.

I don't think it needs to be that complicated. If MLB wants to expand playoffs, go this route;

Season ends Sunday. Monday is off day for any make ups or #163 needed. If MLB thinks two days might be needed for this, then end the season on Saturday.

Tues, Weds, Thurs, best of three series all at the same park of the higher seed. Off day Friday. Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds is the Division series. They can put one off day in there if they want, no need for two. The LCS can start the weekend after with the customary off/travel days.

There were a ton of time outs called by batters last night as well. It got to the point that I would audibly groan when I saw one.
