From the Cubs 2016 game 7 starting line-up only Baez & Schwarber are on active rosters today.

The Aaron judge hr stuff is giving mlb media reason to revisit (and often devalue) prior big HR seasons.

Bonds in particular is a great watch. Easily the greatest hitter I’ve ever seen.

It's really amazing that Bonds had an OBP of .480 in his final year. There are about 10 MLB players who had a season like that and he did it at age 42 (not to mention seasons of .515, .529, .582, and .609. 120 intentional walks in one year? Absurd.

Bonds took the cheating to a different level having a lab make him custom hgh. The other guys were basically using stuff anyone could get from a decently connected personal trainer. He looks like a human pez dispenser now with the skinny body and the big head. Passan left Vlad Guerrero off his ballot and voted for Bonds...the writers didn't learn anything from steroid era. Bernstein is a jackass but he was pretty good with his PED crusade because the baseball writers were terrible.

I suppose McGwire was interesting because he was a big man that took steroids so that's about as far as a human can hit a baseball.

I'm not into conspiracy theories but Ortiz retiring when he did was suspicious to me. He got popped once but I would bet he kept using all thru his career. He had a terrible body that should of broken down. Plus he's an asshole...I was at a game where he started throwing bats out of the dugout like an idiot and hit an umpire. He sure as hell didn't seem like someone who would walk away coming off a season hitting 38 hrs with a .400 on base. Anyway...I wonder if MLB caught him and told him he had to go. Maybe they didn't want it public because of Boston bombing...they kind of made him a hero because he said "fuck" during their rally. We did land on the moon and Oswald acted alone.

wow...when ortega and mckinstry homer and rivas is dinking hits, guaranteed not to be your night. expected better from bassitt, tonight it looks as though his motion slowed down when he threw anything off-speed. that would certainly help cutting edge hitters such as ortega, mckinstry and rivas.

almost comical.

For Cubs fans (and maybe Sox fans), the highlight of 2022 would be Kimbrel blowing a playoff game that eliminated the Dodgers.

So Toronto won 3 of 5 in a HUGE series vs Tampa.

Combined with the 2 losses at NYY, this knocked down Tampa a few pegs and gave the Yankees some breathing room in the loss column.

I love these 5-game series's.

I hope the Brewers get that last wild card spot in the NL. Phillies out and Padres playing the Dodgers in the opening round would be fun

Kimbrel comes in the 9th up 5-1. Gives up a hard single to right, hits 2 guys. Bases loaded. Gives up a trapped shot to 2nd turned into a double play. Lucks out only giving up one run.

He's the weak link on a team with over 100 wins. He's gonna fuck up their playoff run guaranteed.

Astros clinch division yet again last week.

They lose Correa but dont miss a beat. A GREAT team and cant wait to see more of Dusty in the playoffs.

Pujols with #700:

Even the Dodger fans went apeshit.

Hard to believe he only has 20 HR this year. It feels like he hits 4 or 5 a week.

SD vs LAD. Hader blows lead in the 9th. Kimbrel walks in winning run in 10th. Wasn't all their fault. Crazy 2 innings. LAD post game Kimbrel PS roster spot shakey at best. Kimbrel met the media like a man took responsibility didn't dodge or deflect anything with bs like '22 Cubs.

The Cardinals gave up 2 Cy Young candidates Sandy Alcantara (14-8 2.32), Zac Gallen (12- 3 2.46) for Marcell Ozuna in 2018. And they're still 24 >.500 in '22. After Ozuna had 2 decent years in STL the Cardinals wisely didn't resign him. He of course has a career contract year in '20 then tanks in 21 & '22 (220 .277 .390 .667 81). Braves owe him $37 mil through '24.

Interestin' tidbit

Cardinals are 92-67, (25 games over .500)

Yet their 2 workhorses and best pitchers are:

Wainright: 11-12, 3.71 ERA, 191.2 IP
Miles Mikolas 12-13, 3.30 ERA, 199 IP

That means the rest of their staff is 27 games above .500.

I also like how these 2 guys have a LOT of decisions, and each has 32 starts and will probly get 1 more, and they each are near the 200 IP mark.

Rare to have 2 starters on a staff both have at least 32 starts.

Very traditional pitching stats, I love it.
