They're reducing the number of intra-division games from 76 to 52. That's definitely a good move but, rather than increasing the number of intra-league games (they're actually dropping from 66 to 64), they're increasing the number of inter-league games from 20 to 46. I would much rather see the White Sox play the Yankees, Red Sox, and Angles more often than see them play a collection of random NL teams.

Well, that sucks for the NL. Don't they get beat down enough as it is?

Cubs won’t get to feast on the Pirates and Reds as much.

It seems that way but, now that they have the DH, I think you're going to see that change.

why have divisions if you are not going to prioritize dominance in that division for a playoff spot

Completely agree.

The current option is the one i would want the least.

They either need to play more in division or more in the NL/AL. No need to play all the teams in the other league.

I'm a big fan of the new balanced schedule. Disional games are still prioritized at 13. Unbalanced 19 vs the Cards & Brewers was baseball at its best but 19 vs the Reds & Pirates was brutal. The Cardinals (30th) & Brewers (29th) had easy '22 strength of schedules in the same division with 3 tank teams. This way all stars will play against each other every year, get a far more balanced Wild Card race, get annual World Series rematches, most Sept - Oct games intra league.

The only good thing is this makes it easier to complete our Cubs tour if every stadium. Onto Toronto this year in August. We have about ten left to get to.

I know. I still may go. But the group I go with voted Toronto. Two of us voted London. The problem is, one guy coaches youth baseball, and the June dates do not work for him. If I find a few folks to go, I will do it for sure. The group that has been going since 2000 voted a different way.

Agree.

Might as well to back to just an East and West division, and have the rest as wild cards.

Sounds like a conspiracy for the AL to apply load management.

Texas and Tampa for me are next year. I also need to get to Yankee Stadium and Busch at some point but am not excited about either of those. (Tampa won't be exciting for the ballpark, but Bern's, La Teserita, and Cigar City will make up for it.)

I think that's what they get to when they expand to 32. 70 in your own division, 30 in each of the other three divisions, 2 extra against your rivalry team.

I really don't care about divisional dominance at this point. I'm just tired of seeing the flipping Royals and, whatever other AL Central team that happens to be rebuilding, 19 times a year.

An oddity to the Cubs '23 schedule is they're done with the Cardinals at the end of July. So when they're 15 <.500 in September they won't get an opportunity to be spoilers but get obliterated by the Cardinals though Boog & Dempster praising them for high exit velo & good AB's making outs.
