Baseball consistently makes changes to appeal to people who aren’t interested in baseball, have never been interested in baseball and never will be interested in baseball.

Large base fetsishists are rewarded while people who’d like a consistent strike zone are told to fuck off.

I don't care about the human element in baseball.

I agree with this being the right answer. Play 9 innings, if you are tied, you play a 10th inning, after that you end the game in a tie.

The regular season doesn't matter anymore with expanded playoffs.

I'll endorse this approach as well. There are already more than enough innings to ferret out the good teams from the bad teams. A 15 inning marathon game in the middle of the season really serves no one's interests.

Right now the sport itself serves no one's interest. They can't even get a PROPOSED robot umpire implementation right.

Yeah, when I heard Theo say the automatic strike zone is actually a challenge system and won't be used for every pitch, my blood boiled. He said it would keep "the human element." Fuck that! I don't want a human deciding balls and strikes. I want a signal fed to the home plate ump who can then make the gestures.

Admittedly, it is still very early, but I’m enjoying this sped up piece of baseball watching today

I love the pitch clock. If you don’t like the changes they made while the ball is in play I get it, but the shit to get the ball in play faster doesn’t take anything away.

yep. If an NBA team can consistently move from one end of the court to the other, make multiple passes and get up a shot in 24 seconds then a pitcher should certainly be able to get rid of the ball in 15-20.

Seems like the hitter could easily foil his big plan by farting around outside the box until the timer hits 10 second and then Max will have 8 seconds to hold the ball. Seems like advantage hitter to me since he has to throw within those 8seconds.

Not sure the batter has the same farting around options.

My understanding is the hitter must simply be in the box and ready by the time the clock reaches 8 seconds.

I was at a Smokies AA game last year and loved it. The banned shift thing is dumb, but the pitch clock is a great way to speed up the game.

You've still may have a hitter out of rhythm because he's called time and now he's clock watching. But you're probably right. Once everybody get a 100PAs under their belt, there won't be an advantage for anybody.
