Great rule, shift should have been banned four years ago.

After years of youth travel baseball, I don’t really think about it much. I doubt that any player under the age of thirty will consider it odd either. And the kids need to enjoy their own games.

More importantly, who in the hell is on second for the White Sox?

It's a good move, but I don't understand their antipathy to having position players pitch.

It's baseball. Position player pitching hints at fun. Can't have that.

This is one of the worst changes I can recall. Completely change the way the game is played to solve for a “problem” that barely existed in the first place.

I could live with regular season ties

this just results in bad beats and relief pitcher stats being skewed

I get wanting to not stress pitchers. But why can't they play a regular extra innings for 2-3 innings and then put a runner on 2nd?

I don't see the need to restrict position players pitching. And since when did leading teams do it? I can't recall ever seeing that, since it would be pretty bad optics.

100% agree. Play inning 10 and 11 like a true baseball game. You want to bring in the sandlot rules in the 12th, 13th, and beyond? Fine.

This is worse than the All Star Game Homefield in the World Series rule, which I thought would never be topped in terms of stupidity.

I agree with this, but I would also allow for an expanded pitcher roster.

They already expanded rosters to 26 just a season or two ago and added off days. Have SP's cover more than 12-15 outs a game, and it suddenly solves a lot of these stress or overuse issues.

Can't. That's what the sweatshop behind the outfield wall is for

I agree with this being the right answer. Play 9 innings, if you are tied, you play a 10th inning, after that you end the game in a tie.

The regular season doesn't matter anymore with expanded playoffs.

While I think the 11th should be the limit, I can’t disagree with the rest.

Yeah....but MLB has to continue to be stupid. As CH suggested in jest years ago, perhaps they should decide the winner of a tie with a HR Derby

If you can't win a game in 9 innings, both teams should take an L.

Because you're losers that don't have the TWTW.

Go home and kiss your sisters.

You 5 hr guys can still have 12 or 13 innings, even with the ghost.
