was based on inflation as well? So this is a big ass cost with the insurance to make this
for Magic Js Dodger group, the revenue from their version of the Cubs Marquee must
be significant to make this a good deal, must outweigh the costs, which tells you a
great deal about MLB franchise income streams with a pay per view station making the profits
from WGN and TBS in the 90s look like chump change.

then again the Magic Johnson people have more money then GOD, this is a money
printing machine, conventional wisdom would say this will work out. This is the mutant
son of the Albert Pujols contract debacle which is the iteration of the
insane Angels contracts jeez paging Josh Hanilton...
..I would wager an old codger like J Reinsdorf would
gladly call in an airstrike with MRLS support on the Angels Stadium and franchise offices.

if the Dodgers have been above the set limit for the luxury tax (which I
would surmise that 2024 is at least their 3rd year plus over the limit;

that means that they have to pay a 50 percent tax on all salaries [I believed deferred counts] over
the commissioners set limit for the luxury tax. That is alot of cheddar.
So in terms of what you own a MLB team for, for a big revenue team,
the juice is more than like 150 million worth the squeeze.

but that take combines the news of the day with the great Jerry Lewis

I'm going to enjoy the new league which forms in 2029 after the 2027 and 2028 seasons are lost to lockout/strike over salary caps and revenue sharing, all of the RSN go bankrupt as a result including Marquee, YES, and SNY, and Congress takes away MLB's anti-trust immunity in a bi-partisan vote.

I have this feeling that Ohtani will never actually see the $680M as cash, but that there's a gentleman's agreement that he will have the option to use that money to buy a minority ownership stake in the Dodgers once he retires. Current players cannot be owners, but retired players can.
