pedro still pitched well; but phillies are in trouble. i think they lose this one, but when they go home, phillies should have an advantage...i would think.

Phillies should feel very good about themselves going home with the split if that is the case.

Does McCarver just guess about these 'predictions'. He's been wrong about 4-5 times tonight. If you have no clue about what's going to happen just shut the fuck up!

Not if it's educated which McCarver obviously is not.

Tim McCarver: Matt Stairs is a dead fastball hitter so AJ Burnett will not throw 1st pitch fastball.

Joe Buck: 1st pitch fastball strike one to Matt Stairs.

Yeh, I was thinking the same thing. Then he predicted that the runners were going to run with full count and one out in the 8th.

Didn't Joe Buck screw up and call A.J. Burnett Josh Beckett for a good 15 seconds. He was rambling how he was a member of the World Series Marlins team but I could of swore that he was talking about Beckett but then he said "Beckett is looking good so far against the first 4 batters tonight".

Also, I picked up the game in the 7th inning and I immediately saw two blown calls: Trap ball to Howard in the bottom of the 7th, the out call against Utley in the 8th. (that was a huge call because Howard would of had a chance to bat with two men on). Also the home plate umpire was really stretching that outside corner. The "K-Zon" was making him look bad with those strike calls. Especially the called third strike against Howard in the 9th.

I think McCarver is terrible, but who replaces him? I've always been of the mindset that in the post-season you have your lead play by play voice and then the two local analysts from the teams playing. Most teams have recognizable former players in that role and would provide much better insight than the national guys. And besides, do guys like Ron Darling or Buck Martinez really rate with the casual fan? What would be the difference Q rating wise?

Wouldn't Costas refuse to call any game involving a Wild Card team?

Like the Howard call, he clearly didn't touch the plate.

The Howard call was brutal, he wasn't even close to touching it. The strike zone has been bad all night also.

Great play by Damon there.

Edit: May actually end up winning the game for them.
