Did you see Jeter on the "top step" for that double by the 3rd baseman? Man Derek always comes thru

What else are they supposed to do tho? If they put someone else in and the Yanks score, then people are bitching about not putting the closer in the game. I think the Phillies did what they had to do, it just did not work.

Is Girardi just riding the talented roster or is he managing real well?

Its save to say last season was a fluke for Lidge. He has fallen back to his days in Houston, after he blew it against Albert.

I say riding the roster. He doesn't handle the bullpen well at all.

i think girardi proved himself more in florida as a good manager, but it still takes a good manager to manage talent. i'll agree he's made some questionable calls, but a lot of managing is taking gambles...

it's all but over for the phillies. pretty sure WIP will be talking a lot about the eagles thrashing of the giants, and the upcoming dallas game.

Yeah, as good as the talent is, I think he's having a real good year as a manager.

Im rooting for the Yankees but I was rooting for a 7 game series more than anything. Love Game 7. Hopefully Lee can shut em down. Then Pedro quiets Yankee nation in Game 6 to force a Game 7

I hope for the same thing but I think Lee is gonna get tagged tonight. The Phils offense will have to win this

Since when is a pitcher allowed to use pine tar for more grip? It's all over Cliff Lee's hat, and I've see it on other pitchers hats this post season as well.

Lee looks bad so far. He's falling behind on every hitter.

The Yankees could be in real trouble if this gets back to NY. They will be throwing 2 pitchers on short rest while the Phils will have both starters on normal rest (unless they decide to sit Hamels in game 7). Pettitte in game 6 and CC (for the 2nd time) in game 7. Girardi may have screwed the pooch by mishandling Joba so terribly and not leaving an option for a 4th starter.

After what Hamels said the other night, I don't think he's pitching again for the Phillies this season, maybe ever.

Channeling Milton Bradley, Hamels said he couldn't wait for the season to be over.

Girardi hasnt screwed anything. He didnt mishandle Joba. With that said...if it gets to a game 7 the Sabathia Utley at bats will be interesting. As well as hes hitting, its Hard to walk him with Howard and Worth behind him

I can't see why CC or the yankee's wouldn't walk utley, if need be, to get to a guy that has struck out 12 times in 5 games (Howard). Werth is a different story though.

Oh really? Then you agree with the Joba rules? He's a starter. He's a reliever. He's a starter. He's a reliever. He's a starter but we'll keep his innings down by skipping starts. He's a starter but we'll only let him pitch 3 innings or 60 pitches. He's a reliever. He's fuckin worthless. All that happened THIS SEASON! No, that's not screwing him up at all.

The screwing up of Joba did NOT star this year. He was average as a starter anyway. Girardi is making all the right moves and has pretty much all year. Your completely grasping at straws cuz you hate the Yankees. If you think the joba thing will affect this series you havent been paying attention. Not to mention Girardis 3 day rest decision has already paid off with Sabathia.

So now you're admitting he's screwed up??

I've said I don't hate the Yankees I hate certain players (reading is a skill).

So Joba giving up the game tying home run in the 8th last night was a good thing??

I never said he wasnt screwed up (reading is indeed a skill), I said Girardi didnt screw him up. Hank Steinbrenner started all that. Who won the game last night genius? Your posts clearly indicate your hate for the Yankees. Girardi didnt screw the pooch. You can dance around it all you want. It was a dumb yankee hate/jealusy fueled comment.

Pedro threw Matsui 8 straight BP fastballs, and he smoked them all, finally getting one to stay fair. He has nothing tonight.
