I didn't notice the best of all time comment.

I don't think thats accurate...probably the best hitter of that era however. Esepcially because he pretty much assumed to be clean.

For some reason, I read that as "that era" and not all time. The +1 as far as lack of steriods though still stands.

Did any of those guys have a 10 year stretch like Frank? Were any of those guys better in their prime? I doubt it. His numbers got worse when he started focusing on hitting home runs.

I tend not to really care what was done BJR. Babe Ruth was the most dominate player to play any sport but I still put an * next to his name.

If I amend it to 8 years Frank has the edge.

I tend to ignore anything post-1969. Too many teams. All the good athletes are playing other sports. PEDS. The best baseball had to be 1950s-1960s.

I ignore ever year except 1986.

Jesse Barfield is the greatest right handed hitter of all time.

You're probably right. Baseball was my favorite sport for a long time so it's hard for me to ignore the late 80's and early 90's.

Where does Kirby Puckett rate? I beleive Frank Thomas was clean. He was just one big dude along the likes of Frank Howard,Boog Powell,Willie Stargell, etc. Greatest RH Hitter? How about Henry Aaron,Willie Mays or Hack Wilson? The list is endless. Over the last 25-30 years,Frank's name would be near the top.

No one in the "Steroid Era" gets to be considered clean. That's the price the player's association pays for dragging their feet on testing. It isn't to say they should have just caved on it, but they weighed their choices and this is what they get.

that may be true, but if frank did what he did while clean, and everyone else was on the juice, his numbers should be adjusted upward.

How many juiced pitchers did Frank Thomas face?

Nobody knows for sure, but its likely a lot more than Rogers Hornsby faced.

How many of those pitchers Hornsby faced threw off a mound 5 inches higher than the ones that threw to Frank did?

...or in MUCH larger, watered-down pool of players

When you play against the same teams over and over it becomes a little bit easier for the better players.

I honestly don't know if you're right or wrong on this one, man, but if you're constantly playing against guys like these, you're probably not gonna fare too well, IMHO:

Dick Allen 156
Willie Mays+ 156
Hank Aaron+ 155
Joe DiMaggio+ 155
Frank Robinson+ 154

or batting against guys like: Bob Gibson, Warren Spahn, Fergie Jenkins, Bert Blyleven, Robin Roberts, Whitey Ford...

Why people continue to suspect him I have no idea. There are only 2 guys from that era I think you can honestly say were clean thier whole career: Big Hurt and Greg Maddux.

I'm sure there were more than just those two. I never felt like Griffey cheated. His body got slower, weaker, and older at a normal decline rate. He never seemed suspicious to me. Then again, I dont care about the whole steroids issue nearly as much as most people do.
