According to Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle, Astros general manager Ed Wade has confirmed that Roy Oswalt has requested a trade.

I've been reading that there is a long list of teams that would be interested in Oswalt but in reality I'm not sure how many teams will be able to pull off the trade considering he's making $15M this season and $16M + a $2M buyout next season. Throw in the fact that he's 32 and has a history of back problems and that makes a trade even more risky.

The big boys are all out. The Yankees, Red Sox and Braves don't need pitching right now and the Dodgers and Angels are having money problems. The only teams I see making a serious run at Oswalt are the Rangers (who are having money problems of their own) and Tigers. I'm sure the Cardinals, Mariners, Twins, Mets, Nats and Rockies will inquire but won't have the necessary resources to pull off a deal. My darkhorse team: Phillies.

I think the Rangers will make a big push for him.

But I figure he will end up with the Twins.

It will probably be Detroit. Don't know if Texas has the guts to grab that contract.

Kenny Williams will trade for him, it will get vetoed, and then he will go on the DL with back problems and Kenny will trade for him again.

So long, Gavin Floyd!

The SCORE's Matt "The Dancing Fool" Rodewald says the Texas Rangers have filed for bankruptcy. The Rangers have been having a tough time trying to find a buyer for the franchise, and I don't think they'll be getting Roy Oswalt or anyone until the ownership issue is squared away.
