i have heard and read some national views about a fantasy world where Cespedes should win NL MVP over Harper, but i haven't heard that on any of the local sports radio. Bryce Harper is a monster, there is no way anyone other than him should win MVP this year.

I'm not sure if there was a Washington thread, but yeah. This is sad, funny, and awesome all at the same time.

Good thing they rested Strasburg a few years ago and kept him out of the playoffs.

Jonathan Papelbon just went after Bryce Harper in the dugout. I mean, went at him hard. This is amazing.

Papeldouche may have finally surpassed AJ as the biggest asshole in the game.

It seems pretty simple. Run everything out and you won't have to act like petulant little prick when a veteran calls you on it.

Kruk explained this very well tonight. Papeldouche...a hired gun relief pitcher...has ZERO business calling out the NL MVP on this. One of the RESPECTED vets on the team could have...should have and may have done it. A hired gun who is a notorious asshole has no business doing this but he is papeldouche and that is what he does.

I've always hated everything about Papelbon...so I'm trying not to be biased, but this is another tool move by him. The Nationals are crashing and burning...and there are a ton of issues with the organization from the front office through management and in the clubhouse. But Harper isn't a reason. That dude is doing everything he can to help this team win. I have a buddy that is a huge Nationals fan...and I told him the day they picked up Papelbon...not good.

I was jumping up and down the day they picked him up.......after hearing the rumors of him coming to the Cubs. I am well aware of how big of a clubhouse killing piece of shit he is.

You know, you really shouldn't grab the MLB MVP by the throat and try to kill him.

Im a huge Harper fan and I dont hate Papelbon like many (though I can see why people do)

I think they're both at fault here going back to the Machado thing. First of all Papelbon shouldnt have even thrown at him. Definitely not twice the douchey way he did it (curve ball in between high and tight pitches)

But then for Harper to pretty much throw him under the bus in the media "Well I guess Im gonna get hit tomorrow, this is getting old" was wrong too.

That's not leadership. Even a db like Papelbon is still a teammate and if you want to have that conversation you have it with him, not a group of reporters.

No pitcher, much less a relief pitcher should be telling an everyday player to hustle. It'll just never work.

I said this a in like June but they are the 2004 Cubs. The team everybody keeps saying has to win and everyone keeps waiting for their great run and it never comes. Way too many big egos in that clubhouse.

And yes trading for Papelbon was terrible.

I think yesterday shows why having a conversation w/ Papelbon about differing viewpoints may be a bad choice.

The Nats are a joke. And managers don't matter.

Still though, to say that and then go and shake hands with Machado the next day is not the move of a good teammate. Disappointing.

I didn't see the shaking hands thing.
It all goes back to stupid "old school" rules of baseball.
In both of the incidents, Papelbon is trying to be the sheriff of enforcing old school unwritten rules of baseball, with his own team and the other team.
That's clearly not his job, and he's terrible at it.....not to mention they are stupid to begin with. I hate this part of baseball.

This is the one thing that annoys me about Harper. He had to stop the bad body language and showing all his frustration on the field but that said Papelfuckface is the last guy in the world who should tell someone else how to play the game. Matt Williams should have been fired a long time ago. He's a joke.

i wonder Unwritten Rules Supreme Court Justice Brian McCann has weighed in on the situation. I am sure he thinks Papelbon did a great job policing the situation.
