he was at first when it was caught. unless papelbon wanted harper to get thrown out by 50 feet digging for two on a shallow pop-up, that was a stupid time to lecture anyone about hustle. even if they dropped it, harper was already at first with zero chance to get to second. i see the nationals suspended papelbon for 4 games, why not just give him the rest of the year off and get him started on his off-season.

He does have the rest of the year off. He is serving the 3 game suspension for hitting Machado.

You would think he would be able to throw a helmet better.

I dont know what I like better. The pitcher's open handed slaps, or Samardjza running in and taking out his own guy with his head.

Much like Janice Rossi , Bryce can do whatever the fuck he wants, you got that?

Mike Trout is better.

Right now Trout is better. We'll bump this in 5 years.

Janice Rossi is a whore!

Been about 5 years. Trout is still better

I hope that is the case. Otherwise he needs an extra game suspended for such a terrible toss.
 Yeah ole Posey just stood back and watched

Post subject:  Re: Bryce Harper

With Posey's concussion history I don't blame him a) for not putting himself at risk and b) not sticking up for his pitcher being a douche. Someone posted the Shark gif, but there's also a good one of MadBum with everybody else standing on the dugout steps and then everybody but him jumps onto the field for the fight and he's stuck there because he's injured and anyone on the DL has to stay in the dugout.

Harper 2-2 against Strickland career with 2 jacks. Fuck Strickland . Can't get the guy out so you drill him? Shark as usual is a bag of shit too.

Posey could have at least strolled out there and pretended he cared about his team mate.

You have to give him some extra style points for throwing the helmet. He really got some distance on the throw. It would have been crazier if he hit the pitcher with the batting helmet on the fly.

Post subject:  Re: Bryce Harper

Harper was completely in the right for attacking Strickland. No MLB pitcher should throw that wildly that his pitch is three feet inside. You can kill someone doing what he did. While I kind of wish Harper had thrown his helmet at Strickland, he would have been suspended for many games.

No, he did a lot better than Ventura against Nolan Ryan. All Ventura did was put his head in Ryan's arm lock and have his face be a punching bag. At least Harper got one good shot to the face of Strickland.

Here's a suggested rule change: In this case where the batter just gets pelted like Harper did, an umpire should have the discretion to award the hit batsman two bases (like a flagrant foul in basketball), instead of him just going to first. You would see a lot less HB's.

I do not believe there is any human on the planet who can throw a baseball hard enough to kill somebody by hitting them in the hip. Stickland might be a DBag, but he didn't head hunt.

Post subject:  Re: Bryce Harper

I wish Harper clocked him with the helmet, not because I wanted Strickland to get injured, but to see how MLB would have twist to things to give Harper a huge suspension. Something about throwing a helmet at somebody is too dangerous and a line that can't be crossed while only suspending the pitcher 8 games (4 on appeal) because there's no danger in throwing a baseball at someone.

Post subject:  Re: Bryce Harper

Terrible style, but good for Harper for going out there. Blatantly thrown at after almost 3 years, fuck that.

I wasn't 100% sure until I saw the replay and saw Posey not even take one step. That's the universal sign for "he's a dumbfuck, please feel free to go teach him a lesson."
