The Astros called up RHP Mike Foltynewicz (Minooka HS).

The shitheads finally did something right.

Bo Porter fired. Luhnow and him butted heads and management always wins.

Porter was a Luhnow hire.

When times have been shitty during this rebuild the Astros have provided much needed relief as they've proved it could be worse.

Based on what? "Game Score"? Let me ask you this. How could any game in history have a higher "Game Score" than Larsen's perfect game in the World Series? Let me repeat that. The World Series. SABRmetrics are funny. It's funny how sometimes the quality of the opponent counts and sometimes it is completely ignored. Not that the Astros team that Wood pitched against was bad offensively. But when you're throwing a perfect game in the World Series vs. the champion of the other league in the highest pressure situation possible, well, it has to be "greater" than some relatively meaningless game in May.

I found it pretty disrespectful when it came up in the Bea Arthur R.I.P. thread

These dumb sons of bitches did what even the Cubs didn't do and hired A.J. Hinch. Really smart people!

This hire should be the final nail in Luhnow's coffin.

I just wrote a log post about how these bumbling idiots almost left a good player unprotected for the rule 5 draft and how a roster decision was most likely swayed by public opinion but I lost it because I'm a dumbass and I'm not going to rewrite it.

The Astros agreed to a settlement with RHP Jacob Nix. Nix was the 5th round pick who got screwed out of his $1.5M signing bonus when the Astros reneged on their deal with Brady Aiken. Nix will attend a JC this year and be draft eligible in 2015. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

He got the full $1.5M bonus, is allowed to re-enter the draft and most importantly isn't apart of the dumpster fire organization.

Bump.

These guys are really good. They do everything really well. They can win it all standing pat but one more pitcher wouldn't hurt.

Heard an interesting stat last night. The top 3 pitchers in lowest exit velocity against (best at inducing weak contact) 1. Clayton Kershaw 2. Chris Sale 3. Dallas Keuchel. That dude is really fucking good.

Was Houston's President/GM really smart?

Scout versus scout beef. Maybe back in the 1990's Jeff Luhnow got a job over Keyser and now Keyser is uber jealous.

Either way, I like what the Astros have done. Complete rebuilds work with guys as smart as Theo and Luhnow in charge. I'll very passively root for them over the next several years.
