An unsuspecting St. Louis Cardinals groundskeeper was finishing up his work behind home plate Sunday when he was hit on the head by an errant throw from the person throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

Lucas Hackmann was walking behind pitcher John Brebbia, who was crouching at home plate to receive the pitch, when the ball sailed over Brebbia’s head.

I'd love to see Dex put the front office and Matheny on full blast daily until they have to trade him.

But as much as I like him, that is a terrible contract. The GM is just trying not to get fired.

Saw a couple Cardinal fans on twiter pissed that their GM seems so hard on Dex, but seems to be soft on Matheny.

Thats just really weird. 2 outfielders that were teammates a few days ago both go down with a broken foot. The Cards also got to swallow Holland's contract today with him clearing waivers.

Thread has been ghost since 2018.... must have been the last time i was posting on here

Offseason they can broom out Carlson, O'Neill, Contreras (with a shit-ton of eaten $$), Knizner, and even Goldschmidt as far as I'm concerned.
Marmol can go too, Mozeliak can get kicked upstairs, and hopefully Chip Caray has a string of DUI's and they can bag him too.

And Fredbird. I never liked Fredbird.

Burn it down

2023 Season Review

Walker off to a good start, then we realize his defense is horrendous, then he's demoted, then he comes back up and is.... Not that good for the rest of the year.
The phenom may end the year at - 1 WAR.

Starting pitching was bad, then started to look good going into the ASB, and immediately after a 7 game win streak, then it all fell apart again amongst random bad outings from Monty/Mikolas/Flaherty, the bullpen implodes, etc etc

Helsley has been out what seems like forever, probably done for the year.
Hicks had taken the Alex Reyes mantle; alternating between looking like an All-Star closer, and walking 4 guys and blowing it the next game. Traded to Toronto at the deadline.
Gallegos has been okay stats-wise but holy smokes the late game gophers have been painful.
Cabrera turned into a pumpkin (and then back into cromulent after the trade, sss).

MVP Goldy regressing, seems to be playing like... a 35 yr old.

Arenado's terrible start on both offense and defense. By the time Nolan 1.0 heated up, the team was toast.

Nolan 2.0 (Gorman) having a career year then gets mysterious back issues that "he's always had". Barf.

Super-utility Donavon was OK, out for the year.

Tyler Bro'Neill hurt half the year, and inconsistent when he's on the field.. what else is new?

Carlson being jerked around, and rumored in every trade, not breaking out after a decentish rookie year (3 yrs ago now). Hurt and out for the year.

Burleson hitting everything hard and yet, he's one of our worst hitters by production (also on pace for - 1 WAR).

Edman being just average.

Our whole outfield being an injury plagued mess most of the year with non-outfielders playing there on any given day.

Franchise icon Waino seemingly on track to win 200 early on, but the league realizes that if the Unclie Charlie ain't working; those 86 mph lollilipops he's throwing up there are getting smoked faster than Nelly's dabs

Contreras can't call a game or even know what pitches guys throw apparently.

Nootbaar, having a career year and maybe even outside chance at leading the league in OBP.... takes a ball to the nuts.

It's been a great year! :alien: :alien: :bom: :drunken:

The Jordan Walker circus in right field for the Cardinals is something else.

While the St. Louis Cardinals are looking to revamp their pitching staff this offseason, it's clear that their model has resulted in major mistakes in the pitching market in the past - specifically, not investing in the high-end talent that they have needed. Randy Karraker of 101 ESPN's "The Opening Drive" reminded fans of the front office and ownership's reluctance to sign Max Scherzer in 2014.

Karraker shared that when Scherzer received his offer from Washington (seven years, $210 million), he contacted Adam Wainwright, saying that if the Cardinals even got in the ballpark of that offer, he'd come to St. Louis. Wainwright told the Cardinals front office, but they never reached out to Scherzer.
