SI hasn't really been relevant to me since.... over a decade, but pretty cool cover here.

I think this thread might have a couple actual posters and a bunch of trolling...

Still, ignore the fandom and allegiances for a second. Present, Future : Echoes of the Past. This is what I love about the essence of Baseball.

What will they do...oh yeah, just add a stronger arm from their farm system. Go worry about Lohse's next start :D

Wacha?

being in First place, management can afford to figure out what some of these young pitchers can do. The 'pen has been a problem all year, but it looks like it could be stabilizing. Mujica has done the job, and Boggs was just activated.

Rosenthal and Kelly haven't been stretched out to start, Kelly also seems to have fallen in the doghouse. Unless we see one of those two go down to get stretched out in AAA, I expect the parade of minor league starting arms to continue. If the team is winning with the likes of Lyons and Gast getting MLB starts, it is a good thing they have this much depth. Fans might call for Wacha based upon his strong spring, but he really should be in AAA the whole year.
They could probably make almost any sort of trade at the deadline.
Also, Sanchez is now a Cub problem. no idea what the consensus on that is from a Northside fan perspective.

Michael Wacha is probably being called up to pitch Thursday.

Don't worry about the Cards.....they'll survive.

That's the organization I want the Cubs to become. Plug and play....year after year.

Where are you hearing this?

KMOXSports @KMOXSports

Before Michael Wacha being promoted, more likely that Michael Blazek will be activated first for the @Cardinals according to Mozeliak.

Gast left in the 2nd last night with a shoulder issue.

The depth of this team was known entering the year, but is being severely tested now

Motte
Carpenter
Garcia
Westbrook
Gast

That's four starters and the closer now on the shelf. :|

Wacha scratched from scheduled start today for Memphis. Castillo set to make Class AAA debut. Change confirmed with Memphis last night.

Keyser has Wacha as a 3.. I'm hoping he can be a Garza-like 2. I think he can. He could also turn into Bud Smith... :?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Less than a year removed from his selection in the draft, celebrated prospect Michael Wacha will make his major-league debut Thursday at Busch Stadium against the Kansas City Royals.

A team official confirmed the move this morning and the team announced that they will promote the righty before Thursday's game.
Wacha will debut Thursday at Busch

Wacha, 21, was the 19th overall pick in the 2012 draft.

During spring training he did not allow a run in major-league exhibition games, nor did he allow a run in minor-league scrimmages. Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and manager Mike Matheny have been among the team members who said Wacha's stuff was good enough this spring to have success in the majors.

The righty is 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA in nine starts with Class AAA Memphis.

The Cardinals will need to make two corresponding roster moves to make room for Wacha on the 40-man roster and the active 25-man roster. The Cardinals can place Jaime Garcia on the 60-day disabled list to clear a spot for Wacha on the 40-man roster. A player will have to be optioned to the minors to clear a spot on the 25-man roster.
