Heyward, not Kozma.

That is a huge blunder. No idea what he saw and why he did that. He should have scored easily

Cardinal fans down here are growing very tired of Heyward.

And for fucks sake stop searching for a leadoff hitter. Pencil in Carpenter every day and forget about it

So what's the 1b plan moving forward? Reynolds cannot be the everyday guy.

Not Ryan Howard. Maybe a vet like Morneau at the deadline. I'm not a huge Morneau believer at this stage of his career, but I do remember a retiring Will Clark getting traded to STL and going bananas for a month or two.
A reasonable goal would be an Adam Lind, not sure i the Crew would trade to a division rival, but they should be in full rebuild mode... they do like to sign our washed-up pitchers :drunken:

@LangoschMLB

They've lost their ace, set-up man and cleanup hitter; yet, now one-third of the way through the season, #stlcards are on pace for 108 wins.
12:07 AM - 5 Jun 2015

Cards will need that lead; the Pirates are coming.

Are you a fan of MLB.tv's condensed game? I'm a fan of MLB.tv's condensed game.

Here is El Gallo's 11K performance on the format.

Cards go against grain of their recent first-round draft strategery and pick an athletic, upside play in HS outfielder Nick Plummer. Said to have all the tools (minus arm) to stick in CF. Read a comp to Garrett Anderson, good looking left-handed swing and gap power.

Callis wrote:
He burst onto the scene last year at the East Coast Professional Showcase. I had some scouts tell me that he may have made the biggest first impression of anybody they can remember there. At that point, you thought this guy could maybe the No. 1 overall pick in the entire Draft, that’s how good he was. He doesn’t throw particularly well, but he can do everything else as a potential center fielder. He slumped a little bit this spring, which is why he’s going here.

Full on Meatball Hot Take:

Everyone snoozed on the skills of this sneaky-fast OF because he plays HS ball in a Northern state.

I wouldn't say they snoozed but Plummer was very difficult to scout because of the weather and because Detroit High Schools start hitters at a 1-1 count. That makes it very difficult to evaluate his approach/feel because hitters have to go up there hacking. Plummer did well on the showcase circuit against the top players in the country and that's what put him in the 1st round. Not sure he will stay in center but it doesn't matter because the bat will play on a corner.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch just dropped a bombshell in the ongoing Cardinals hacking story: Cardinals Scouting Director Chris Correa has been fired.

Stephen Piscotty will join the Cardinals on Tuesday evening in Chicago.

Any of you guys going to see the future Hall Of Famer's debut tomorrow?

With all the trouble at the position this year, I guess they are going to play him at first quite a bit.

I'm excited to see what he can do-- the irrational meatball hopes for a prime Allen Craig, or a right-handed Matt Carpenter. Still, Piscotty is just 24. Supposedly he has altered his approach for more power, to the tune of a .203 ISO down in Memphis.

Wacha looked real good early then his stuff disappeared around the 4th. Is this something that's been happening to him or is this just a case of him losing his focus with a big lead?
