So, what you are saying is that the cubs are doing a bad job of losing on purpose?

That may have been the best move for the Astros.

The Cubs really need to start getting these guys some major league reps. I know that it won't happen but the bulk of our AAA lineup should be our ML lineup right now. It'll speed up the process of them adjusting to the league and then the league adjusting to them. At this point the Cubs are 2 years away from making the playoffs and 3 years away from competing for a ring.

It was a horrible move for Houston. It set the organization back by not signing the 1-1 pick and their 5th round pick. Sure they get the 2nd pick in next years draft but it looks to be a weaker draft at the top so they will likely get a less talented player than Aiken. It also seriously damaged their credibility around baseball and with future draft picks. All this to save $1.5M

If they believe that the guy wasn't healthy it definitely was. You and I both know that you can't really project how good a baseball draft will be a year before the draft. Landing the 2nd pick is never bad.

Aiken is healthy. The issue was Houston's doctor said he has an abnormally small UCL. Conveniently he was the only one of four doctors to have that diagnosis.

Sure there can and probably will be a pop-up guy but they have a pretty good feel for how the draft is going to look and this one looks weak at the top.

I really wouldn't care if the Sox went into a tailspin at this point. I'm not paying attention anyway with the Bears breaking camp and the college football season two weeks away.

Hooray Losing!

Compete for half a season and then tank for a high draft pick is the new market inefficiency.

Since August 1st, the White Sox are the worst team in baseball with an incredibly poor 9-23 record. Yowza.

Neither can the Brewers, even though they did better the last 2 nights.

They'll both get good players. This draft is deep.

The Brewers farm system has changed pretty dramatically with all of the trades going back to Gallardo.

Yes it has. They have a nice collection of high upside position players. They (like just about every other team in baseball) could use a few more arms. That's too bad about Kirby. I hope he comes thru this ok.

Yeah, there is concern there for sure. Injured all year and then comes back and now this.
