They have, but Pavelec can't stop giving up bad goals. I hope they get a win to shut up the jerkass Ducks fans, but he really failed them. Shame, too, as he dragged the team into the playoffs down the stretch.

I am content with Buff sucker punching Perry in the back of the head. Very satisfying.

Forget the regular season. That doesn't matter now. Right now the Hawks are playing better than both the Blues & Wild. Neither can beat the hawks in a 7 game series.

The Hawks are not playing better than the Wild so far in these playoffs.

And both teams can beat the Hawks in a best of 7 although I'd still like the Hawks over the Blues. This isn't the same Hawks team from years past.

You must have missed the Wild game last night. They played unreal.

This is an absurd thing to say! Anyone can beat anyone in a seven-game series. Both teams are perfectly capable of beating the Hawks. The best bet is to hope that the Hawks take care of the Perds in five and these other two teams batter each other across a full seven. I think it will be Minnesota in seven, and you'd better hope it's seven, because I don't want to see Suter and Brodin with a mere five games' worth of minutes.

Minnesota held St. Louis to 17 shots on goal last night. That's like one period of Nashville from a team with a better offense than Nashville.

I watched it. The Wild were very good, but I still like the Hawks most recent performance better.

But the Hawks have lost their penalty kill and shot suppression, two things you really need in the playoffs. I'm glad they were able to flip the switch and come out hard against Nashville on Sunday -- like we agreed, their best complete game since the knockdown blow to the Kings -- but a lesser Wild team gave us hell last year and it was only Crawford having a superhuman series that got us through.

Mike Yeo with Ryan Suter and last change is really able to dictate the terms of a game. They're now 6-1 at home in the playoffs over the last two years, the lone loss being the Hawks' overtime win that knocked them out, in which Crawford went 34/35. And now they're getting real goaltending, not the fumes of Ilya Bryzgalov.

EDIT: 7-2 over three if you want to push back to the beginning of the Suter/Parise era and a #8 Wild team that wasn't that good and by rights should have finished behind the Blue Jackets.

Blues have lost 9 straight road playoff games. I hope the streak continues to at least 11.

Up a pair early. I hope they win and extend the series.

I know I should want the Blues to extend the series, but I just cannot cheer for them.

Fuck the Blues

So what do you make of the Wild performance tonight? Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk turned in a .647 save %.

They had a bad night. So did the Hawks, against a lesser opponent than St. Louis. What do you want me to say? that only the Chicago Blackhawks are playing professional ice hockey and everyone else is just a set of props?

The Wild lost by 5 goals tonight. Do you know the last game the Blackhawks lost by 5 goals? I will take the Wild & home ice rather than the Blues & road ice.

Detroit is about to knock Tampa Bay out of fhe playoffs. Once again a lower seed proving that where you finish in the regular NHL season just doesnt matter. The team with the hot goalie and team wins in the playoffs. Experience matters to. Sounds like the Hawks.
Screw the Lightning. No one in Tampa cares about Hockey.

Not true, Tampa has a very good fanbase. Don't confuse them with the Panthers.

Anyone see or know why the Islanders Clutterbuck and Martin were assessed 10 minute majors?

I saw a few Lightning games this year and the place looked half empty.

Fuck...they just scored.

And the series wouldn't be over if the Wings win. 3-1 series leads don't mean auto series win in the NHL, especially when Tampa is an overall better team than Detroit.

Lightning somehow parlayed a half-empty barn into the best home record in the NHL this season:

hmm, looks like the refs were taking prophylactic action by tossing Clutterbuck and Martin:

Clutterbuck's slash that got him tossed:

Martin's face-off love tap that got him the same 10 minute misconduct ejection:

This chick either aggregates or makes gifs or short vids of all these hockey games:

The Bolts are fun to watch and have a good fanbase by Florida pro sports standards. They do fine enough. Meanwhile, the Panthers average roughly 2,500 viewers a night, which is ghastly.

Blues are craping in their own bed again, down 3-1 after 2. What a lazy low effort bunch of quiters they are.

I love it.

The offensive juggernaut that is the Tampa Bay Lightning were shutout 4 - 0 at home. I hope Detroit beats these fucks.

Tampa is fun to watch. Why would you root for Detroit?
