Well, here's your shot report:

Minnesota: 17 on goal, 14 blocked, 9 missed, 40 total
Winnipeg: 43 on goal, 16 blocked, 10 missed, 69 total (nice)

So basically what you have here is a team that either never had the puck or scarcely had the puck but wasn't doing anything with it. I shit on the Hurricanes for indiscriminately flinging shots, but it's the playoffs, weird stuff happens, you can't finesse your way through, especially when the other team has more talent than you do. But hey, enjoy the sweet solace of starting a brawl because you got your ass kicked.

Kings/Vegas on. So far a good game like last game. This is probably going to be the funnest series to watch first round.

Man I am so glad the playoffs have started. Keeps my mind off how shitty the cubs are this so far this season.

Dubnyk was 68/72 on the series before it all unraveled a couple minutes ago. If you can't salvage a split in front of a .944 sv%, and it appears they won't, then what exactly do you have left in the chamber?

Suter might've made a diff in Game 1. Wild posted a 1 goal lead twice late in that game. But going forward in this series, even if Suter were to return, which he's not, Jets at most drop 1 in Minnesota and then clinch back home in Game 5.

Racking up quick goals in the 3rd period is probably something the Jets could do earlier in these games. But they've been focusing on punishing the Wild in the early periods of games 1 and 2; before switching to more of a puck-in-the-net mentality over slamming the Wild into the boards at every opportunity.

With the NHL's new, no re-seeding playoff format, Jets-Predators on course to meet in the next round.

Could easily see the Sharks coming out of the bottom half of the Western Conference bracket to take on the winner btw Jets-Preds. Sharks playoff experience might give them a chance at upsetting the Jets. Long, long shot. But same thing in the Eastern conference. With Lighting and Bruins both in the same half of that bracket. The 2 seed in their bracket Penguins could easily make it through to the conf finals and potentially up-end whichever team makes it through to the Eastern Conference finals on the other side of the bracket.

Sharks-Penguins would not be a surprising SCF.

2/3rds of Jets playoff roster comprised of guys they drafted? That's gotta be a big leg-up in the current tight-and-tighter salary cap climate of the NHL.

Off the top of my head, Scheifele, Ehlers, Laine, Connor, Lowry (Hawks fans: imagine if Marcus Kruger played in Jeff Carter's body), Roslovic, Trouba, Morrissey, Chiarot, and Hellebuyck are all homegrown players. Wheeler and Byfuglien were trades, Perreault was a free agent, and Little and Enstrom, if you can believe it, were drafted/developed by the Thrashers.

Brutal numbers for the Wild. And that's with the Jets seemingly only half-focused on scoring for the first half of the game.

Winnik got some good shots in on Tanev. Guess Winnik took exception with Tanev shite-talking the Wild bench. Wondered why he was fighting, well, playing punching-bag, instead of Byfuglien.

As for the Sharks winning the West, I'm not too sure. Their series with Anaheim feels like it'll be a coin flip, if a coin flip took forever and a day and bored the hell out of everyone in 49 of 50 states. If they get through to the second and play Vegas, they're through to the third, but I don't like how they match up with the Kings, Jets, or Predators. It would be a bummer if they did win the West; both the Sharks and Ducks feel like Act IV of a three-act play these days. They've been more or less the same team for six or seven years now with no championships. What more do we need to see of them?

No interest in Las Vegas.

Agreed.

Without Doughty, Muzzin, or Forbort, LA had a Blackhawk-esque blueline. Vegas sucks. As soon as they play someone with talent their ass will be going home.

That's why I like the Sharks to make it out of the bottom half of the Western conference draw and play either Jets/Preds in the WCF.

It was a great shot too. Pekka made a nice save on another.

Preds scored first in the 3rd to make it 4-2 Nashville. Figured that was game. Avs not throwing it in. Got a couple power plays in a row and came away with a goal to make it 4-3.

Preds back on the PP now tho.

I don't expect the Avs to win the series or even this game but I hope they can drag out the inevitable and put more miles on Rinne.

Preds survive a sub-par outing from their goalie. Rinne didn't look right in the 3rd. Seemed like he wasn't tracking the puck very well as the game wore on; appearing surprised by its location at times.

Rinne hasn't looked like a world-beater in his first two games at home against a kinda bad team. It would be fun if the MacKinnons tied it up in their home games. Not impossible.

Hockey Experts - question about one thing I never understood.

Faceoffs - the ref has to fake the puck drop, throw someone out etc..... What is all that about and why is it needed? Cant the ref just drop the damn puck and let them play?
