The Oilers move from Northlands to their new arena, which looks like a really stylish European airport:

The seating bowl looks like, well, every new NHL seating bowl since Minnesota/Columbus:

The astute hockey fan will notice the camera wells are now on the penalty-box side as they are in the other 29 rinks, meaning no more line changes in the foreground. This, plus the ice appearing to lack that weird bluish-grey tint it had at Northlands, means Oilers games will now look like games everywhere else.

This will be the last year of the Joe Louis Arena, and then the Calgary Saddledome will be the only quirky old barn left in the league.

Taking in a game at the Saddledome would be a bucket list trip. Might need a bucket to yak in after the game, if they still sell 'heroin beer'.

The NHL is good when the Flames and Oilers are good. The Red Mile was cool shit in '04.
