They know they wont win a playoff series & they wanted a return on him.

The Blues have turned into a dumpster fire even faster than I thought they would. May as well shop Tarasenko while they're at it, since they're setting themselves up to not win shit the next several years.

Sort of Andy MacPhail's "get competitive within the division" but in reverse.

They were hosed. Shattenkirk could decide where he wanted to go so that limited their options. A very late 1st rounder, a bottom 6 AHL'er, and a conditional 2019 2nd rounder (I think Caps have to make ECF and Shatty plays in 50% for that to kick in). I don't get Copley for Malone as some Blues fans thought he was a key piece in trade for Oshie...sure he is a UFA after this year...I wonder if Washington keeps him with Wolves for remainder of season...any insight Baby McNown?

Ottawa gets The Viktor Stalberg Project for a 3rd. Such a Sens move.

Carolina is trying to unload Teuvo less than a year after acquiring him.

There it is, Iginla to the Kings for a conditional fourth. Hope he at least makes the playoffs, one of my favorites for years.

Pittsburgh called up Tom Sestito tonight. It went about as well as you expected. 1 minute of ice time, 20 PIM and a meeting with Player Safety.

It's fine, Toby Enstrom didn't need an orbital bone.

Of course it's no surprise he is an ex-Canuck. It seems that whenever this is a shitbird like this (Cooke, Torres, etc.) the one common thread is they spent part of their career in Vancouver.

Stupid part is everyone knew that this was the end result. It's why they have him in the minors, it's why they called him up.

I guess this was expected and they called him up because in a previous game Malkin cheap shotted a Jet in the head.

Here is a classic gem from 24/7 showing us Tom Sestito at his best. I love how Brad Richards brushes him off.

I watched that a bunch of times and still didn't understand what Richard's said to him.

"It's one day in the NHL for you...it's like fantasy camp for you"?

At the time Sestito was getting his first call up (or I think it was his first) and was sent back down a few days later. Richards was basically saying it's just like a paid fantasy camp for him and he's not a real pro.

I don't think they'll do it, but Sannozay's trying to boot the Pacific lead to Anaheim. Lost 1-0 to Dallas, which I didn't think was possible.

The highest the Avs can finish the year is 63. (SPOILER: they won't.) The infamous 2015 Sabres finished with 54, the loathsome 2006 Blues with 57. Pretty good chance they finish behind both. I cannot stress how much worse those two teams were on paper.

The Avs blew 2-0 and 4-2 leads in regulation and lost to the Oilers 6-4. This team is so amazing. We're witnessing history.

EDIT: wait, they pulled the goalie because whyyyyyyy not, Draisaitl scores, 7-4.

NHL decides not to punish Crosby for slashing off a Senator's finger tip. The incident was not penalized in game.

A look back at possibly the most famous fight in hockey The 97 Avs-Red Wings brawl

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/goes ... che-brawl/

Quote:
Paul Devorski

His role: He's the referee for this whole mess, and he could not be any less impressed with any of it. You can see him at various points, calmly observing the action like a bored lunch monitor.

Hey, here's a fun game: Try to guess how many penalty minutes Devorski gave out for everything we just watched. Remember, the Senators and Flyers got over 400 PIM a few years later for one good line brawl followed by a parade of awkward wrestling matches. What's your over-under on what Devorski dropped on the whole Wings/Avs debacle? Can we set the starting point at roughly 7,000?

The answer: 22. He gave out 22 penalty minutes. Combined. For the whole thing.

I am beginning to suspect Faxes From Uncle Dale has only been talking up the Sharks the way they have because Sam is horny for Hockey Twitter Sharks fan @stace_ofbase. They're MinnesotaWilding their own division to the Ducks and Oilers.

Sharpy out for the season; (JMO) maybe for good?

Probably explains why he wasn't coming here in a deadline deal.

Not necessarily career-ending, but any contract he signs next year is likely to be a one-year reclamation-project deal. Maybe the Coyotes will sign him to a big 35+ contract and have him retire immediately so they can carry dead cap space.

I love Sharp but I do not want him back on a Soupy like deal. At this point he is very much a shadow of his former self and would take a place that I prefer occupied by one of our kids (Hayden, Motte, Vinnie, etc.) where there can be development for a piece who can further support the core and keep the window extended.

That is the most useless hockey site on the Internet. I'd rather give Hockey Buzz clicks than those assholes.

I agree, there's no place for him here anymore. Let him play out the string in Las Vegas.

Wild lose in OT to the Dead Things...gain a point to be 7 points back with 7 games left.

He is talking about coming back to Dallas next year and they seem to want him back. Fine, they won't be a treat. I kind of wish Sharp would hang them up though as this season has taken a toll on his body.
