As a Hawks fan, I'm glad the Caps knocked the Pens out and prevented a three-peat, which would have undeniably set the Penguins in front of the Hawks for best team of this era, and we can't have that. 3 in 6 > 3 in 9!

Hawks got one more left w/ this group you think? Or it's time to tank?

Depends on how the offseason shakes out but they're probably in the "get in and see where the wind takes you" territory that Minnesota, St. Louis, San Jose, and Anaheim are in every year and unless you're the 2012 Kings, that doesn't win the Cup. But maybe they get John Tavares and the window flies back open. Short of a big splash like that, I don't see how they'd get past the Jets in the early rounds.

Awesome stuff! Very happy for the Caps. They and their fans definitely deserved this.

On a side note, Roenick is fucking awful interviewing people. Kathryn Tappen should be somewhere on this telecast.

Roenick can't go wrong w/ me. He was the only one on the NBC crew that said that Vegas was going to be in the finals way back from round 1.

Get some money off the books (Anisimov?), offer playing with Patrick Kane, and pray you can somehow outbid Long Island, who can offer more money and an eighth year.

Fun Fact :

Barry Bonds is now the only one with at least 3 MVPs and no championships.

Well, 2nd place is pretty cool for a team that had to overcome so much. A bunch of castoffs going to the Stanley Cup Finals as the hockey establishment(let's guess the demographics on that?") hated on them.

Hopefully this is the start of a dynasty as a lot of these players were not wanted by their teams and the teams GAVE them draft picks to take them.

The future is bright, I have to wear shades, and that is because Vegas isn't in a place where it is cold and cloudy and snowing 9 months out of the year and your neighbors are moose and bars.

Thank god the correct team won, and in convincing fashion.

Can't wait to see Vegas' joke of a franchise wallow near the cellar next season.

What makes you think they will be near the cellar?

I don't think they'll be near the cellar since the west is the worst division in hockey but they definitely will not take teams by surprise next year. Karlsson's shooting percentage will take a dip causing the overall effectiveness of their 1st line to go down. MAF had the best season of his career and I doubt he duplicates that. With all that being said, Vegas does have a lot of cap space and a loaded farm system. They should be in the running for Tavares, Karlsson, and Carlson.

Just heard that. I heard some buzz during the playoffs that Troyz had been thinking of retiring after this season, but it was a bit odd that he had not been offered an extension during the season.

i heard that he was pretty much gone earlier this year and said it to one of the other hockey coaches during a game. but then they won the cup and it seemed be one of those 'win the cup of you're gone'. but i think they didnt want him back regardless. maybe they won in spite of him. who knows.

I am certain that they did not win in spite of Trotz, considering he was the only coach to get the OvechCaps through the second round following certified idiots Dale Hunter and Adam Oates (and maybe even throw Boudreau in there as an idiot as well).

Yeah - if anything, Trotz may have gotten the team (Ovi) to buy in to playing just enough defense to get them over the hump.

Trotz to Long Island, surely this locks up Tavares as well. Good for them, they need it.
