I just realized this far into the playoffs i don't see those playoff beards. I know the NHL last year was sort of against it but did something official go out? or the league just discouraged the players from growing them?

I had that thought a week or so ago. Think back to that NBC executive receiving all that flack for making a negative comment about the beards. I've always thought they were a horrible look. Most young guys in their early to mid 20s cannot even grow a full beard. In 20 years, we'll look back at pictures of an Amish-looking Jonathan Toews skating with the Cup and wonder why they didn't shave.

i was just going to say that about Towes. Even Crosby can't grow one. Testosterone lacking generation.

Dunno about the Caps but Vegas is owned by a West Point chud who think he's the Army, pew-pew-pew, so he probably banned facial hair completely. The Devils under Lamoriello never did playoff beards because Lamoriello has a stick up his ass and the beards were originally a Long Island thing.

ya bears were not a good look on everyone. i can see why NBC would be pissed. Not very appealing . But then again, just like in the last 5 years, that gruff ruff unkept beard look was the fad amongst men.
