Pacioretty to Vegas for Tomas Tatar. Sure why not, just give them the whole fucking NHL.

Gotta question McPhee's asset management. He gave up a lot to get Tatar then moved him with a good prospect and a 2nd to get a player on a 1-year deal that is soon-to-be 30. Good deal for Montreal.

He only has 1 year on his deal and the Hawks aren't contending this year

The Hawks aren't contending for a long time.

San Jose will be a team I watch a lot of this season.

I'll still be watching the Hawks, but San Jose is a good pick for West Coast games to watch

and yes our window is closed. Too bad no one on West Madison wants to acknowledge the fact and start selling to rebuild

Seguin signs a long term extension at less $$$ than the 1988 deals.

Can't give them crap about the 19,88 deals...they thought the cap would go up and Toews would maintain his performance. Let's not forget the bargain deal they had Keith under for his prime. Seabrook is the bad deal.

Simply put- The deals, particularly Toews, have not worked out. Bowman miscalculated the cap and Toews let his game slip to the point where he is 3-4 million overpaid. They might have been unlucky with their timing but ultimately they are judged on the results.

Like I said, the under the market Keith received has at least lessened the impact of Toews' contract during the Cup years. Now Toews' production the last 2 years, coupled with Keith's slight decline, has made that contract bad. I will give Stan a ton of crap for Seabrook because he is in decline and it is a cap-killer.

At the time, nobody (except maybe CH) believed the Toews' contract was bad; Kane has played up to his contract and we got 2 more Cups out of it. I'll take it.

The problem with your post is that the Hawks never won a Cup after the 1988, 84 million dollar contracts kicked in. They began in 2015-16 season.

Of course he costs less, he's out of the playoffs more often than not.

Blackhawks need to find a replacement for Hossa to pair with Toews. Hossa was Toews' Pippen. Usually the Bowmans are good at getting veteran ring-chasers to sign-on for a chance at a Cup later in their careers, (e.g., Hull and Hasek in 2002, but that was pre-cap). Scotty's track record makes him the Pat Riley of the NHL in that regard. Still wouldn't be surprised if what's happening in Tampa results in the Bowmans running that front-office.

I wrote it for another forum so I'll post it here too.

First 10 picks were keepers so don't get hung up on the order. G, A, PIM, +/-, Blks, Hits, FOW, PPP, W, L, GAA, SV%

99 for life
1. (10) John Tavares  (Tor - C)
2. (15) Nicklas Backstrom  (Was - C)
3. (34) Joe Pavelski  (SJ - C,RW)
4. (39) Drew Doughty  (LA - D)
5. (58) Wayne Simmonds  (Phi - RW)
6. (63) John Carlson  (Was - D)
7. (82) Jaden Schwartz  (StL - LW)
8. (87) Ryan O'Reilly  (StL - C)
9. (106) Anders Lee  (NYI - LW)
10. (111) Frederik Andersen  (Tor - G)

This is where the draft started.

11. (130) Antti Raanta (Ari - G) HUGE goalie run started the draft. I had the 10th pick. Took a gamble. Could of had Lundy.
12. (135) Pierre-Luc Dubois (Cls - C,LW)
13. (154) J.T. Miller (TB - C,RW) LOVE THIS PICK. Nearly took him at #135.
14. (159) Mark Stone (Ott - RW) Hope he gets traded before the fantasy playoffs. Is he really gonna get 60 pts in Ottawa?
15. (178) Jake Muzzin (LA - D) Best D available. Dobber had him at #45 for his league.
16. (183) Nick Schmaltz (Chi - C,LW) Upside of 60 pts while playing with Kane. FOW at the LW spot. Sure, a little bit of a homer pick.
17. (207) Charlie Coyle (Min - C,RW) 131 rated in this league.
18. (226) Elias Lindholm (Cgy - C,RW) 103 rated in this league by Dobber. He projects him for 60 pts. Getting him at pick 226? Yes please.
19. (231) Colin Miller (VGK - D) Best D available according to league projections.
20. (247) Ryan Miller (Anh - G) Meh- I hate drafting goalies. At least if this turns out wrong I can blame Dobber. Best rated goalie left.
21. (250) Josh Morrissey (Wpg - D) Rated 89 for this league.
22. (255) David Perron (StL - LW) At least when my Schwartz goes down Perron will get prime deployment.

I like my draft but as always I will be looking for a goalie that emerges.

J.T. Miller is one of those names that appears on the scoresheets an awful lot for being a 2nd/3rd-line guy. Never saw much in Lindholm but then it's hard to make an honest assessment of anyone on the country club teams because the heat's never on. Lotta empty numbers. Oliver Ekman-Larsson has to be the king of empty numbers, a truly worthy successor to Jay Bouwmeester.

Yep. I feel a little better with our goalie back. Not much but a little.

Vegas doesn't have that home ice magic going tonight. 4-1 Flyers

7-6 Pens over Caps in OT. Looks like no one wants to have a goalie play well early this season.

Toronto is much fun. They are becoming my go-to team to watch. Toronto/Dallas had so much talent on display last night. Heiskanen is going to be a stud.

I agree, the Maple Leafs do have a wealth of talent.

Remember Marko Dano? came over in the first Saad trade, high hopes for him, never panned out, got sent to Winnipeg in the Andrew Ladd trade that also didn't pan out? Just went on waivers today, but I have a feeling one more team is going to take a chance on The Marko Dano Project before he can clear to the Moose. Ottawa, I am staring at you right now.

I did too. Too bad he couldn't develop other areas of his game.

I remember my first burn: Petri Kontiola. He got depression from playing in Rockford and was a total bust: went back to Finland and only a year or two ago attempted a comeback with Toronto, which failed. Michael Frolik wasn't a bust, but I thought the sky was the limit with him and the limit turned out to be "really kick-ass fourth liner when the salary cap sorta doesn't count," for us, at least. He's been a decent complementary scorer for the Jets and Flames, but the hype was Baby Jagr. Never trust Europeans, and never ever ever trust Panthers prospects.

Sergei Krivokrasov and Igor Kravchuk were the first non-North American players that severely disappointed me. Two high draft picks from Russia that management hyped to be the next Federov and Fetisov. Kravchuk had a long career and Krivo had a couple of good years, but neither of them really made a significant impact during their careers.
