I've included a list of the most popular names I've seen below, and filtered out terrible choices like Firebirds, Renegades and Seals.

Sockeyes, Totems and Metropolitans were the Top 3 choices on the Seattle Times poll.

Probably be something dumb like the Seattle Snowcaps, Seattle Sleet, Seattle Starbucks, Seattle Amazons, or something like that.

Metropolitans, Evergreens, or Cascades. Seattle is probably too ess-jay-dub to allow anything as problematic as Totems (even though the Seahawks' logo already Culturally Appropriates totem pole art).

Isn't "Fightin' Geoducks" a college team out there?

Lumberjacks

This ties the flannel and grunge into the uniforms and logos.

So there's that.

Barely on the topic of flannel and grunge, this does raise some questions on who the target audience is going to be for this team. Hockey is strange in that any demographic research will show that the NHL has the wealthiest fanbase of the major four leagues, but the perception of hockey fans is still one of toothless white trash with insatiable bloodlust -- contrast with the NBA crowd, which is practically the modern-day night at the opera. Down the coast, the Sharks have been very successful with kind of a suburban, upper-middle-class, tech-savvy crowd, so I could see trying to build the same thing in Seattle, but how many of those people in Seattle are already all in on the Sounders or the Seahawks (acceptable bloodlust), or are still pissed that the Supersonics aren't coming back but a sport for WHITE PEOPLE is?

There's a chain of coffee shops in Michigan called Biggby's. I had never heard of it, but their billboards advertised some interesting coffee-like drinks, so I looked them up. Apparently it's a fairly new name that grew out of their logo, a Big B, because someone had to point out to the owners that "Beaner's Coffee" didn't quite exactly mean "coffee of one who sells coffee beans."
