Apparently this is the St. Louis song now for hockey... some of the players were at a bar watching Eagles vs Bears (yes, that game!) and they kept asking the DJ to play Gloria. So now they play it all the time there (yes, I had no idea about this either... I stumbled upon this info in a very newper way which doesn't need to be detailed) but in any event, people keep calling to have the singer do it live, and they have to remind people she died in 2004. I can think of nothing more St. Louis-y than that.

Let's just say that I started listening to Gloria without any prompting from the hockey thing... it is a really good song on its own. I don't need to explain why I listen to Gloria by Laura Branigan to you or anyone else here... I will explain it privately to HawaiiYou if he PMs me. In any event, it is a good song, but now that they made it a St. Louis song, it kinds of stinks a little bit.

It's kind of like when Boston took that song from Neil Diamond...and then he kept showing up to sing his song. The song sucked a little bit worse after that. Now we'd have something if Laura showed up in St. Lou to sing Gloria. I'm picturing a Carrie remake of sorts, with a zombie twist for the millennials out there.

Personally, for no particular reason, I'm partial to The Doors version of Gloria. Different vibe altogether. I may have to PM HYou and see what he thinks about my Gloria dreams.
