Bbbbut I thought the Leafs were guaranteed a Cup when they hired him ? Fucking bloom came off that rose pretty quickly .

They never had goaltending in a league where you absolutely need to have goaltending. He got away with Chris Osgood all those years because the Wings could always do enough capfuckery to get by.

Babcock has experience with Toews, Keith, and Seabrook (though somehow not Crawford, who missed the cut for Team Canada in favor of...Mike Smith?!?). Maybe they would respect him, because they sure as shit don't respect the failed 2003 draft pick coaching them now.

2011-12: Capitals fired Boudreau, Ducks fired Carlyle, Ducks hired Boudreau within the span of a few days.

Agreed. As a Hawks fan I want no part of Babcock. He has a lot of stubbornness in pairings and line construction just like Q. And unlike Q his players did not like him or enjoy playing for him. Not saying Colliton is the answer but for the contract it would take, easy pass.

Yeah, obviously the zoomers like Matthews and li'l Mitchy Marner can't get along with Babcock. I'd like to think he'd mesh well with what's left of our core and be something like what they were used to with Quenneville, who was also definitely a standoffish hard-ass at times but still inspired a great deal of loyalty in his players.
