Brantford, Canada, the hometown of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, unveiled a statue of the Great One on Sunday outside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Center.

The next day, vandals besmirched the statue, spray-painting it.

The statue depicts Gretzky hoisting the Stanley Cup over his head. The vandals painted Gretsky's face and jersey blue.

City workers cleaned the statue Tuesday morning.

Obvious solution to prevent this from happening again: Put up a statue of Marty McSorley to keep an eye on the Gretzky statue.

The real Gretzky statue is the one in Edmonton. This one is a pale imitation, like when he played for the Rangers.
