Bernstein had it right today: if you're talking about how one more incident will make you cancel Olympic participation, then you already need to cancel Olympic participation. Forget this den of terrorists and homophobes. Give everyone the three weeks off and don't risk their lives.

These terrorist based on past exploits are looking to kill anyone or everyone BUT I still think they don't come close to the actual venues. Something will blow up by a train station or bus stop.

Also worth noting that as far as the big four leagues go, the NHL has been on the vanguard of the gay rights movement with the You Can Play project, so even without the self-destructing Chechens (and members of The Self-Destructing Chechens), it looks shitty for the NHL to send its players to Sochi. I have a really bad feeling about this. If, like Dan said, security experts don't even feel good about this, why risk it?

Sochi should never have been awarded the Olympics. Who ever heard of this city before they got the Olympics anyway?

From what I understand Sochi is a resort town. With Palm trees. Hosting the Winter Olympics. With Palm Trees.

You know what, I've come around on the Sedins. When you look at how categorically awful their teammates/coaches are/have been (Burrows, Bieksa, Kassian, Torres, Vigneault, Tortorella), they really aren't that bad. I mean, Henrik is forever a bitch for his "we actually won the series 5-2" comment after 2011, but that's a minor offense compared to the idiocy the rest of their organization perpetuates on a regular basis.

Same for Luongo, who turns out to have a great sense of humor and really got kicked around by the organization last year.

Chara? Kind of a cheapshot artist, but I've never had any ill will toward him. I save my greatest contempt for guys who are shitheads but are celebrated for being Hard Competitors because they are either Canadian or American -- Shane Doan and Dustin Brown, respectively. No one has ever been like "OH WOW EDZO OHHH LOOK AT ZDENO CHARA HE EMBODIES THE HARD-NOSED SPIRIT OF SLOVAKIA."

I saw Carcillo playing in the outdoor stadium game. What Olympic team is he on?

I don't know, I thought the sewer system only sent a team to the Summer Games.

An attack will be a ratings bonanza ... I half wonder how many folks wouldn't be all too depressed by such an event.

Really? I don't think it's entirely silly ... not saying it's part of any majority opinion, just that there's no way that nobody nowhere nohow isn't quietly hoping for something other than an orderly Olympics.
