Jersey was close to making the playoffs this year since when? They were always around 10th or 11th in the conference.

Devils set an NHL record by going 0-13 in shootouts this season. They missed the playoffs by 5 standings points. And if any of those were against Columbus or Detroit, they were less than a handful of points out of the playoffs. Jagr was 1 of only 3 Devils to pot a shootout goal in around 50 shootout shots this season, so it's not just a goalie issue.
