Should have been the NBA and probably would have if all the casino/hotel owners didn't completely flip their shit that one time black people descended upon Vegas en masse for the All-Star Game.

I'm not sure if hockey players living in Vegas for half of the year is going to be any better.

The NBA would be perfect for Vegas....easiest sport to fix.
31 teams is completely ridiculous.

They rejected Quebec City. Called it a "deferral" but outlined no timeframe in which they'd get a team, nor guaranteed they'd be ahead of other bids. I'm feeling close to done with this league.

I think its gonna be a huge success.

First and only pro sports team in Vegas, I think they are going to have a very loyal and large local fanbase. Throw in the fact that they could probably sell out the arena just from visiting fans and Vegas seems like a no-brainer to me.

And, as Sidney Crosby pointed out last night, they are going to have a great home record for the obvious reasons.

Question is how are they going to keep their own players from being distracted?

I also expect the games to be a lot of fun given the entertainment options they could bring in. Maybe a Cirque de Solei in between periods show of some sort?

I don't know the local Vegas demo enough to say they'll have a large local fanbase, but being the first pro franchise in Vegas will serve them well. Someone had to do it eventually. I just wish they'd move the Coyotes or Hurricanes instead of expanding.

They will have a smaller RSN footprint than Ottawa (Eastern Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland = >10MM) and will make less RSN money than Ottawa ($30MM/yr). Great socksess!

This is such an idiotic idea. The Coyotes blow hard and prove hockey in the desert is unprofitable. Just give to Quebec City so I can watch Habs and Nord fans fighting in the stands.

I think the "Elvi" with their uniforms being reminiscent of Elvis' sequined jumpsuits is kind of funny, but that would never happen...nor should it.

If this guy tried to name the team the Black Knights and use West Point colors because he went there, why wouldn't West Point sue him for infringement? Army has a hockey team, too. Also, the Ducks stole their colors from Army ten years ago and they'd theoretically be Vegas's rival!

Also, the minority owners of the team are the fucking Maloofs, fresh from damn near running the Sacramento Kings into the ground (or Virginia Beach). This is the stupidest league.
